Startup Fails

I get the following error:

When I launch the game from the Games section on Vista it produces a error saying that "Startup.exe has encountered an error and needs to be closed"

It proceeds to launch the game which closes right after the startup videos.

I tried re-installing. Worked once. But kept freezing. Close the game. Restart game... Startup.exe gets error.
Reboot PC... Same issue.

I am running the latest update (which was a nightmare to find as vista doesnt do it automatically) and still error occurs.

My PC specs:

Operating System: Windows Vista 32-Bit Home Basic Service Pack 1
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00GHz 2.99GHz
RAM: 2.50GB
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 7600GT

My pc has more than the required minimum specs.

The game has so many faults i think its an outraged it was released.
Clearly they did not test it properly before released.
Very Very Very unhappy about this.

And i changed the registry to match the error they say where the B needs to be capitalized in Binaries.

Any ideas how to fix this?
Spent 4 hours trying.

Replied in your other post location but reposting here with more details since this is probably the more appropriate forum now.

You say you're running the latest update but don't say which update it was.

Make sure you're running the latest version of Games for Windows - LIVE AND the latest Gears of War update. There was an update last December to Games for Windows - LIVE that addressed some compatibility problems that could lead to errors similar to what you're describing.

I'd suggest manually installing both of these updates and then trying again (if you haven't already got them).

You could also try systematically disabling other software on your system to try to narrow this down since you say that it did work once, but I'd start by making sure you're fully updated first. The time it did work may have just been a lucky timing case.

If neither of those ideas solve the problem I'd suggest making sure you're system is clean of spyware/malware as some of those types of programs could potentially cause this problem as well.

Okay.

I manually installed both the Live and latest title update (correct from date of post)

Still crash at startup.exe.

Okay.

So I un-installed it. Deleted any traces of it such as the folders still remained in my hdd.

Re-installed it.

Straight away edited the registry to make the Binaries capitalized, installed the windows live update you provided. Then ran the title update you also linked me.

This was all before i ever launched the game.

Well...
After doing this...

Success!
The game now actually launches!

right heres my problem
when i open gears of war up it says please click startup.exe to run the game
so i got to
:C/programfiles/microsoftgames/gears of war/binaries/stratup.exe
then i click on startup.exe
it open the game but then comes up with the message again
