I've tried posting in the other areas of the forums but have so far gone without a response..

anyways.
I bought a copy of gears for PC a while back, but about a month ago my install file got deleted by a mate who thought it'd be funny.. now i tried to repair/reinstall it, but i get an error message after the uninstall asks me if i want to delete all user created maps and accounts. Error message as follows..
__________________________________________________ ________
Error number: 0x80040702
Description: Failed to load DLL: FireWallInstallHelper

Setup will now terminate
__________________________________________________ ________

I'm guessing i need some method of manually uninstalling it.. i tried CCleaner.. that did nothing.. tried going through my registry and deleting all Gears related stuff.. but it still gives me the error, even though it's not in my Add/Remove programs list anymore...

halp please... :( :( :(

I know how to fix this for this happened to me. In order to fix this, go to where gears would be installed (program files\microsoft games\gears of war) If the gears folder is missing, create a new one. Now open up your gears disk and navigate to program files\microsoft games\gears of war from the gears disk. Look for Firewallinstallhelper and gameuxinstallhelper, now copy those files to where you installed your gears folder. Now the installer should let you uninstall. However now when you go to install the game again, you get ERROR applying transforms. To fix this download http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 now use it, there should be a long list, but let me guess now, you cant find gears of war! simple, at the top there is a blank file..it has no name...delete it! Now install gears and enjoy.
