Which Map will you play first?

When you start Gears of War 2's multiplayer, which map will you play on first?

I'm personally going to pick Gridlock, it was the first map i ever played, then probably Day One.

It's a hard choice. Day One is probably going to be my current selection (bearing in mind we haven't seen even half the maps yet) just because it's so radically different from the Gears 1 maps.

I think I'm gonna try River first, it looks like its going to be a new fan favourite. I'm going to play through every map with a bunch of bots and get to know them all before I jump into real games.

River or Gridlock. River just because of the curiousity of the new map and Gridlock to see how they revamped and developed the map. I love the new little features in the new Gridlock.

Day One: Pretty much following Marth here. A little boring because it's so open but I love that they have like 2 or 3 different elevated spots for snipers to use, always wanted this. I can get up on top and stay behind a wall, shooting down with my rifle into the heads of the enemy only to hear that sweet popping sound it makes :P

Lol, That map just looks like it's going to be my favorite against bots, for people though, I have yet to see all the maps and decide.

It depends what kind of system the game will use. If you get to choose which host to play off of like it is now, then I guess I'll just pick the first Execution game, regardless of the map. But if they use a playlist system where everyone gets matched together and the game randomly chooses a map for you, then I'll just go with whatever without vetoing it.

You wont have the ability to veto. Two maps will come up and which ever gets the most votes, that map will be played. If its a tie then a random 3rd map will come in and that map will be played.

Not liking the way you have to turn off the lasers, I prefer a map that is good for battle right off the start.

It's a cool concept, but I don't like it and it slows down gameplay. Imagine how fast Garden would play out without the poison gas. It would be very different, yes, but the rounds would be much less campy/running away from the guy with boomshot/trying to get the enemy out in the open so you can use HoD....I prefer a straight up battle for the weapons, like Gridlock, or War Machine.

It's a cool concept, but I don't like it and it slows down gameplay.

So how do you magically know this? Oh yes I forgot, you've had HOURS of playtime on Gears 2 haven't you? :rolleyes: Don't presume things before you've played the game like that. If anything, the lasers will focus people's attention to the button area, and cause more fast paced and hectic standoffs surely? Garden is different anyway - Garden requires more than one button press and it's only to get a non central power weapon, whereas Security is one button that protects two power weapons both central to each other - I think this map will see some of the most action from the looks of it.

Avalanche has been confirmed multiple times, in multiple places. People even got to play it at X08 Canada. They just haven't shown us the map yet for some reason.

I agree it looks like one of the best maps, but I just want to play Day One because of the drastic difference from all Gears 1 maps. Security has a more usual Gears look to it than Day One.

Nobodies picked Security, i'm guessing it's a more "Advanced" map. I remember X360 saying it was their favourite, even though they were really bad at it. :D

My first map would be the new Subway. I liked the old subway and the layout. Hopefully the new one would be more awesome.

No gridlock, as I have played 1000's and 1000's of time already on Gears 1 and it wont be that much different then the numerous gameplay videos of it.

River is another one which looks like it will be a favourite and Day One looks fast paced. I am loving all of it. Bring more Epic

and dude i dont agree with you at all,day one looks amazing..raven down was a square with crap in the middle..but at least on day one you have a ton of weapons and you can go inside buildings.

I agree. Interactive maps sound like a good idea but they are too gimmicky IMO. I think Tyro station is different because it doesn't involve any button pushes to avoid the train and I enjoy the odd match on that map. However Bullet marsh and Garden are two of the worst, if not the two worst, in Gears 1. I never want to play those maps again and I won't.

dont know they all sound interesting..day one seems a little bigger than raven down but the cross section style, but we can go into some of the buildings and second levels. Raven down only had gernades,which really sucked.

im curious to see the avalanche and some of the ones we have only heard about. like the one that has a driving force that leads us all into one place. Epic could at least give us the names of the rest. We will see them soon enough.

gridlock is still one of the best maps out, awesome layout for gameplay
