Gears of War 2 Playable Demos for PAX Confirmed

Wohoo! For you lucky guys who live near enough to where PAX is being held, you can go get some stuff signed by Cliffy B, play the game at one of their demo stations and apparently there will be demos of the game shown as well. Is anyone going? If so, I have a list of requests that could answer many things currently buzzing on this forum that I would LOVE if you could answer.

- Pick up a sniper or torque and find out which button does what for executions (so hit B when someone is down, and also try hitting Y and be sure to remember what did what the right way round PLEASE). Also could you try it with the Gorgon to find out which button does what on that as well?

- Avalanche was at X08 Canada, so if your going take some pictures of people playing Avalanche so we can see the damned map finally. Don't forget, this is a public event so it should be 100% fine to do so

- Any footage is good footage. As long as it's watchable and it's a decent length. So please try and get some whilst you wait in line and watch others play!

- Get a picture of the lobby screen. If you do that, I officially love you forever. If you only get one picture, make it a good one of the lobby screen.

If you even do half of those things, I'll be super happy. I hope someone here goes and does this, since some of us aern't as lucky as those able to attend :(

I think that EPIC is going big in Tokio! They just refresh minds at X08 en PAX, I hope some new details at PAX! But if they announce that they are going big on TGS I would be pretty happy as wel.

There's already MEGA amounts of hype - why spend money (and it's a fair amount, such as thousands of $) making a video they'd be happy to slap EPIC on when they already know the game will sell by the lorry load. For the dedicated fans? Well, that's us... and there's not that many of us here due to most 360 users now-a-days don't a) know how to type b) have a PC and c) know how to use a forum. :D

Yeah, PAX is held in downtown Seattle. But I read some where that they are planning some PAX events on the U.S. East Coast. I'll look for the page I read it on.

I don't think Subway is an available map. Remember, this is a demo and the only maps you'll probably get to play are Gridlock, River, Security, Day-1 & Avalanche.

Anyway, Hooligun, I can answer your "Which button does which execution" question.

In the Day 1 gamepay vid (don't know the exact place, I'll check later), Carmine (the player) does a quick golf club swing with the shotgun on a downed Locust. This is the B button execution. It will be pretty quick for all weapons, as Cliff said, lasting no more a second, gnerally about half a second (got that from an interview, probably the one revealed on G4 at 2am a month ago...?).

Anyway, pertaining to the Sniper and Torque Bow. The Sniper "Y Button" execution is the longer execution, the overhead brain smash one with the cinematic view. The "B" execution with the sniper will most likely be a quick melee similar to the shotgun's "B" execution (seeing as B is the melee button...) The Torque's "Y" will be the decapitation, and the "B" will again be a quick melee.

I really don't see why everyone thinks the whole issue is so confusing. When I first heard about the different types of execution, it just made sense to me.

To review, "Y" = longer, cinematic execution up to 3 seconds in length. "B" = quick, half-second custom animation, nothing too special or fancy. You would do the "Y" execution on, say, the last enemy when he's downed. You'd do the "B" execution if you're still in a battle and need to finish off a guy.

yes i had that same conversation with chris paladino also about the gears demo booths and i will be attending for sure and hanging out alot at the MS booth for pictures, videos, and getting stuff signed.

Im going to PAX for only one thing and its GoW II. I have a camera ready to take lots of gameplay videos, and there going to be longggg videos. I just got back from PAX and played the demo. I'm not a big gears player so I can't comment much on any gameplay aspects that have changed, but what I do want to comment on is the graphical style.

It's completely desaturated, lacking almost all color. There are times when it's hard to tell if you are playing a black and white game or a color game. It's really *that* desaturated. I understand that gears has this black/white/red thing going on, but I really hope the final build increases the saturation of the game. The only thing that really has color is blood, which is cool and has a certain artistic style to it, but even that is too dark. I think they are trying for a more realistic look but IMO it's gone overboard. It made the graphics look bland compared to some of the other games at PAX.
