Epic must read! Question about guests!!!

Ok, I for one hope that you continue to have a feature where your guest can play splitscreen with you online, however, there are a few concerns with this for Gears of War 2. When I play Gears of War, I am mostly playing with my brother as a guest. We both share a gamertag basically and sort of have to suffer with this. Were Twins and are equally skilled, but when things like linked achievments come in play for multiplayer characters, I would hope you allow the guest to share your multiplayer characters, because my brother likes to be Anthony Carmine.

My next concern is rank and true skill. Now I don't know if playing social matches matter what skill you are, but what will you do with group rankings? Will group rankings be in Social matches? If so will the guest always be rank 1 or however you do this, because that may mess things up, especially when your guest is as good as you.

I know you may bot respond, but it would be nice to know you've even looked at this. :rolleyes: :)

Yeah, but I don't think it will work unless they fix that some how, because in Halo when he plays as a guest, he doesn't get any of the armors that I get, that's why I brought that up.

halo is different it uses custom armour.
gears sticks to set characters, so you just select one.

Yeah, but the second Gears of War has linked achievments for characters and that means the Guest can't have these characters, trust me. So I was wondering if Epic was somehow going to make it so the guest use the characters that the non-guest aquires, do you understand now?

I really don't think it will be a prob. bro. If it saves to your harddrive then he will be able to use it period. The Armors in Halo dont save to your hardrive, they get stored on their server, but in Gears 2 their linked achiev. I would not worry about it because since their is not as much customization everything will probably just go to harddrive. And I believe like someone said if that does not happen just get a second subscrit. to XBL. It's only 50 dollars a year. Thats pretty much him saving a dollar a week to pay for it! That's pretty F'ing cheap.

Me and my little Bro saved up abd bought a second Xbox 360, Gold Subsciption, and anthor Gears Of War. It's really worth it. We had a couple of torunaments online in Halo3. 4v4 it was wesomebut we also have done 2v2 in Gears it was awesome.

Somoeone pointed this out earlier, but this is where you are wrong. If he is signed in as your guest (noblehero(1)), then he would be able to choose any character that you could choose as your unlocks are imputed to him. This isn't going to be an issue. If he has his own account and has not unlocked them, then obviously he wouldn't be able to access the characters.

Is he trying to sign in under his own gamertag? A guest under your account (noblehero(1)) does not need to share achievements because he's just a shadow version of your account. There is nothing to share because the primary tage (noblehero) would already have the achievements.

Not exactly, because microsoft is retarded and wont let guests do anything because they want you to buy your own gamertag. They won't let you use xbox live anything, including using a mic or even using the dashboard, and thus, no achievments. There fore no anthony carmine, Kim, or general raam for my guest.

Because it is simple. Your guest is a mini-me. You have it unlocked under your gamertag, then the "shadow" you (i.e., your guest) will have it also. The guest doesn't need achievements because he isn't anything other than a reflection of you. Your comments about Microsoft and a guest mic, etc., are not really applicable to the issue.

Your matchmaking question is more difficult and no one knows the answer, but I would guess that they use whatever rank you are to determine team skill and matchmaking. Obviously, this is likely inaccurate, but what else would they use for a guest?

Okay. I disagree (because I do not think that guests will need the achievements as long as the host gamertag has unlocked the achievement) and don't think it will be an issue for you, but we'll see in November. If I'm wrong, you can revive this thread, and I'll eat crow.
