Wingman Mode

I just watched the UT3 Gears footage and I noticed something about Wingman.

Up until now I always thought that it was 5 teams of 2 and each team was the same character, but on the footage we see Dom on screen, and on his HUD is his team mates location and in the circle is Marcus, meaning that we don't have to have teams like:

Dom + Dom vs RAAM + RAAM vs Baird + Baird etc etc

Could this open up a possibility of having mixed teams such as:

Marcus + Drone vs Cole + Theron and so on.

However I'm curious though about one of Cliff's comments, "If it doesn't look like you, shoot it!".

I wonder how this will turn out.....

dude your right! i have the ut3 vid and never noticed it till ill just watched it...dom and marcus can be team mates not sure how the rest of it will work!

i doubt we will be able to cross races.. wouldnt go with the game..and all this time i thought we had to be twins nice find dude!

i can tell you right now hes right! i have the ut3 game with the vid..he is 100% correct about marcus an dom being wingman partners as far as other partners i dont know...if you think about it you know who your team mate is everyone else is an enemy!!so why would it matter who your partner is!

hense the kill anyone else that doesnt look like you and well the face that in the upperleft hand corner!

Im confused.ithink they meant the same race models. thats the only thing that would make sense. if your team mate picks locast you have to be locast..so on and so forth.

just shoot everyone let godmode sort them out!

Unless EPIC changes it to mixed teams I would say not. And if so for mixed teams it would be 2 COG 2 COG 2 COG 2 Locust 2 Locust, or what ever combination. if anything I would see the teams going more like

Marcus + Dom
Cole + Baird
Kim + Hoffman
Carmine Team

as for locust.. I really don't know, maybe:

Grenadiers
Therons
Helmet Heads something like that. Other then that, the video was made before updates and changes OR it is a regular Excecution match while he is talking about the Wingman gametype. Because if you notice when its Wingman, the teammate is the same face and there is a + sign under their name. The thing with doubleing the characters is to know who to and who not to shoot, though you could just learn who not to shoot, this may make it easier for newer players.

Though I stand by my previous statement of mixed teams being what I said because in the campaign thats how it seems. Marcus and Dom on a mission, Baird and Cole are "friends" (just mean to eachother haha) and Kim and Hoffman are the two leaders, then Carmines are brothers, only makes sense to me.

Well I can tell you this, it might be a little confusing if your not the same guy as your team mate. You can't tell me that if their are like 5 Marcus's running around the map your not going to try to kill all of them that you see or you will have to constanly be asking your team mate" Dude is that you, or is that you, wait are you behind me, OH SHI......" DEAD. I hope you will be the same as your buddy for this reason alone.

There is a button in gears one that shows you where your closest teamate is, I am pretty sure it will be the same in gears two, with that being said, I doubt the match will allow duplicates of characters not on the same team. And most likely the teams are already predetermined to avoid such confusion.

^yea thats a gimmie..theres no way you could have two of the same characters on differant teams. maybe it has too do with the party system..when in wingman mode you can only invite one friend..and it pairs you up via live with characters unlike the ones you and your friend has choosen! and for the teams thats not picked thats where the bots fill in. im curious to see how this will work...you know theres gonna be alot of people saying i wanna be that team...and whos to say who can be who.

edit: now that i think about it maybe it randomly assigns you and your friends to a team..Maybe the game decides!

because in Wingman the can only be 1 of each character unlike other game modes where duplicate players are allowed.

Does anybody know for certain if wingman is a respawn game more or not, I know there using the execution type rules, so does that mean no respawn, I hope so, because I love the fact that I have to be carefull with my life and watch over my body's. If its respawn your partner probably won't stick close, and will do there own thing, because they don't care if they die, they'll be back.

Guardian looks like a lot of fun, and the respawn for that one feels right, because once your leader dies, you can't respawn, so technically it still has the same type of gameplay, just with a different twist.

maybe two players just can;t be the same chracter, so you know who not to shoot, being your one and only teammate, and he is the only person using the certain character. am i right?

I would have to agree that everyone would have to be different players. Or one person can be the same character as their teammate.

kantus + the new locust that has a weird looking helmet ( the one that uses sniper in the gears 2 vids)

kim + hoffman wont do since kim is dead and can only be played by gears 1 achievements.

Pretty sure, the HUD icon has a COG wheel with wings for wingman, I guess the locust will have their cross. On Guardian its a star for both teams, symbolising the leader.

I suppose there will be a fancy icon over your teammate so you can recognize him. Everything else that doesn't have a name over it, you shot it.

Hopefully you're the same Character model to eliminate confusion.

I can imagine situations where one team is dominating and the other teams gang up on them. In player matches with people you know that could be fun as hell.

1 vs 4 is bad enough 1 vs 8 would be insane.
