Hey folks,
I learned a bit of Unreal Editor 3 on someone else's PC and now I am hooked, unfortunately my puny laptop can't run the game. I am looking to either find a great Dell deal (one where I can sell the monitor, use the money to upgrade it) or build my own computer from newegg parts. Any tips for making sure UT3 runs great on it, without costing too much? Any recent build lists you might share? Thanks! :D

The best build you can get right now is a intel e8400 3ghz, 2gb ram and a 8800gt. Easy to build for under 800$ even prebuilt from places like ibuypower.
Will run just about everything very well at the moment.

At the moment you can get a 2 Gb matched pair of Crucial DDR2 800, 4-4-4-12 for $20 after a $40 dollar mail in rebate, from Newegg.

Of course, some people (I suppose) would want more than just DDR2 800.
But anyway that's what Ive been using for a while now (well patriot memory anyway), and with a C2D and an 8800gt, it runs everything perfectly at high settings pretty much.
Anyway, knock yourself out with the whole shopping thing there

Here is one I completed yesterday, and have been working on for at least a week. It includes pretty much everything you would need aside from an operating system and a copy of UT3. Also, you could easily swap the 4Gbs of ram for 2Gbs and thus have extra money to upgrade the CPU to an e8400 while keeping it less than $1000. Still, your budget (how much money you plan to spend on this) would be very helpful.
Here is a link. (http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=7885431) :)

If I'm gonna buy Radeon HD 4870, should I invest on a cpu better than e8400?

I'd go for the HD4850 instead of the 8800gt

The E8500 is only slightly better but way more expensive. The Quads are not as good for UT3 and cost way more. The E8400 is at the sweet spot right now.
Here are the benchmarks;

E8400 can easily be overclocked beyond the E8500 with any half decent motherboard and stock cooling
