OK I have been reading all morning long trying to figure out how to export something from Maya 2008 into UT 04 Editor. I installed the ActorX plugin and tried to export just a ball out into the .PSK?(I think that was it. Although it might be another file extension) Or whatever file you need to have to have the UT editor read it. It gave me an error and closed Maya. Also does everything I make in Maya have to have an animation to import it into UT? I just wanna do maps, maybe some health vials, nothing mobile just static items for now. I could have left some vital things out, I am kind of burnt out on reading about this now. Can anyone point me into the direction of a tutorial that shows me how to take a map I made and get it into the UTed?
Please?
I would love you forever.
Also I would snail mail you like .72 cents...That is about all I can afford right now :) I am a student hahaha

guud luck man, I'm going to Blender just because that exporter is such a PITA and nobody but students and pro artists can afford Maya now - the PLE version doesn't export!

I use max and here is how I import static meshes. I select the object(s) to file export and save it as an ASCII file. A ox comes up and you check Mesh Definitions and Materials on for the output options, everything else off. Object types has geometric and shapes checked on, everything else off. Turn on all mesh options. Then click OK.
In Unreal open the static mesh browser and go file import. Give it a package name, the name of the package the meshes will be in. Groups is if you want to organize your meshes. Name is the name of the file. Then click OK. Assign a material to it.
Saving - save both the static mesh and the texture file. This is necessary of they won't load in the level. If you use multiple texture files, you need to save ALL of the texture files or they won't load in the level.
I know you don't have max, but I hear they are similar programs. I also here they are not. I am unsure on this subject. Hope this helps.
