After watching the recent Gears 2 campiagn gameplay for the umpteenth time, I decided to share as many things as I could. These are things that I found most interesting about the clip.

Carmine Returns (sort of)
You all probly noticed that there is a character that wears the exact same outfit as Carmine. What some of you may not have noticed is that this "new Carmine" Seems to be voiced by the same actor as well. Just as the Ravan helicopter gets blown out of the sky (in the openning clip) you can hear Carmine's distinctive voice say, "Oh, here we go". Shortly afterwards, you can hear him yell, "BOOMERS! Sh*t!" when the nemacyst causes the explosion on the top of the Derrick in front of them.
I'm sure that this character is not actually Carmine though. Marcus seems to call him Dunder or possibly Gunther (when the Locusts start climbing aboard with their grappling hooks) but I can't be sure. If anyone thinks they know what he says, please post. It's when he yells "Keep him off the rig, [?????]! Take out the hooks!"

Human Shield (er...I mean, Locust shield)
To use a Locust's body as a shield simply walk up to one that has been Downed and press the A button. Presumably, this action can only be performed with a pistol drawn, as you'll need your other hand to carry the locust. This however, remains to be confirmed.

Lancer 2.0
You'll notice that the Lancer is slightly remodeled. The most noteworthy difference being the strange blue laser-crosshairs. It's like an inferior version of a red-dot scope. kind of cheesey too. (sorry Epic)

New Hammerburst
After seeing that first image of the Hammerburst in the recent Game Informer article, I wondered why they changed the look so drasticly. Now we know that it not only looks different, but it performs differently as well. Instead of firining in 6-round bursts, it now fires one shot at a time (making me wonder why they still call it a Hammerburst). Each clip holds 18 shots.
Ps: I love that we now have a weapon that behaves this way. I am curious to know if it'll come with a partial zoom as well (like the pistols).

Chainsaw Duel
Notice that during the chainsaw duel, the icon at the bottom of the screen indicates that the player must rapidly tap the B button in order to win. Also note that once the duel is won, Marcus cuts through the Locust much quicker than usual, since he has already spent so much time "dueling". Also notice that not very much blood splatters on the screen, blocking the view.

Gorgon Burst-Pistol
Fires in 8-round bursts. Can fire up to 4 bursts before reloading.

New Execution Move
There's a new vid that shows alternate footage from the New Gameplay sequence. It Features a sweet new execution move. No indication on what button is pressed to perform it though.

Also, note that the Locust getting pummeled is wearing a sweet looking facemask (lets hope this Locust winds up in Multiplayer!)

The HB fires a sort of "instant burst" in that each shot fired consists of three bullets (if you watch the shells next to the numbers in the ammo counter.)
The Gorgon looked more like it had 6 shots per section, not 8.

The Gorgon pistol may look like it fires 6 shots when counting the bullets in each section, but if you pay attention to the number, it counts down by sets of 8 (from 128 to 120 to 112 to 104, and so on)
Also the number on the hammerburst seems to count down in increments of one (even though the ammount of shells seem to vary).

Um, the new execution move is performed the same way you grab hostages

You can see the ''Press A'' icon at the bottom of the screen

Also notice the character isn't holding a pistol, indicating execution moves changes depending on the type of weapon you are holding

Curb Stomping will probably be a grenade only type of execution, Beating up will most likely be for assault rifles, maybe chainsawing a head off if you have the lancer...

Actually, the new execution move is not performed the same way you grab hostages. If you look closely, just before Marcus begins to punch the snot out of the Locust, an Icon appears at the bottom of the screen that prompts the player to hit the A button. However, The graphic next to the A button clearly shows the same picture shown when prompting you to grab hostages. This indicates that the player pressed a different button, other than the one that was prompted, in order to perform the execution.

I have heard speculation that the curb stomp, may have been removed, so perhaps this is the move that replaced it.

Ps: Marcus is indeed holding the Gorgon Burst-Pistol just before he goes into the execution animation. There is nothing indicating that execution moves change depending on the type of weapon you are holding.

is it just me or does standing over your opponent and pummeling him with your fists on a battlefield with gunfire going back and forth seem incredibly stupid and i don't know, action b-movie-ish? all that talk in the first one about making the firefights feel real because you have to get down or your dome is gonna get shot up, but now standing over someone and bashing their face repeatedly is the preferred tactic when stray bullets are flying everywhere...

i understand they're trying to make it "more badass indeed" (cheese alert), but it seems they're overdoing it

It's already pretty cheesy; that's part of its charm.
Why would you run out into the middle of an active gunfight and chainsaw, or curb-stomp?
The answer is you wouldn't. You'd wait until you had a safe opportunity to do so so that you didn't get shot... The video was probably shot on the "watching an action movie" difficulty, likely with Godmode on, so that they could show off the features. I expect that if you do run right out into the middle of an active battlefield in-game, you'll get gunned down, like you would in real-life...

I'm pretty sure Marcus yells "Keep 'em off the rig, don't just take out the hooks!"

That doesn't make any sense, though. They're using the grappling hooks to board the vehicle,s o if you take out the hooks, you'll stop them. The only reason he doesn't is because they wanted to show off the Gorgon and the body shield stuff...

You're right. After hearing it again with the word "Delta" in mind, that's clearly what he is saying.

Plus, in this recent interview Cliffy admits that it is in fact Carmine. Though he won't elaborate on how he came to survive that infamous headshot. Click here to watch the interview http://www.gametrailers.com/player/33954.html

He also tells us that there are "weapon-specific" executions, and that the curb stomp is returning (so at least we cleared up those bits of confusion).

We knew for a long time that curb stomping is in the game. The Game Informer preview mentioned that you'd curb stomp Locusts that tried to board the Derrick.

I Forgot about them mentioning the stomp in the GI article. The only reason I thought it may have been removed is because this video http://www.gametrailers.com/player/33775.html says that "the curb stomp may have been removed". But now we know that that was false.

He also says he wants us to be pleasantly surprised by his package... :p
...............

I'm curious to see what other weapons are coming down the pipeline, since his comments implied that there were more than the one new weapon...

You know, I've actually never curb stomped someone. Or tagged someone with a grenade.

I'm going to play Gears now...
