Hi,

I'm a newbie to UT2004 mapping, although I have been making maps for UT99 for a while successfully. I've made my first map using unrealed3 and saved it and tested it locally, but for some reason when I host a game via the internet my friends can't log into my server if I have my map in use (although one of my friends did eventually manage to download it and play after quite some time of trying). My map is 487k so I don't know why it is taking time to download. Is there something I need to do to make this map available to them? I've tried giving them the map to put in their folder but this doesn't seem to work either. My map is very simple with nothing special in there ... lots of playerstarts though! It only uses existing textures and sounds.

I never had any issues playing maps across the network with UT99 .... is UT2004 different?

Sounds like this maybe a server issue rather than an issue with the map, especially since you say you've also given out the map to client before they try connecting.

AZ-{OVGY} ... thanks for the help. I have sussed this out now and you're right it was a server issue. I had to change the upload amounts and speeds in the .ini file to get things to work correctly. I tried using a redirect unsuccessfully and just ended up using the built in download with very high data transfer rates (maps seem to load on friends machine within a few seconds :) )
