Is this the same version I cooked or is this newer? If this is the one I cooked could you please credit me. Its not that easy cooking these models and testing them ... I try to be helpful so its nice to get some thanks and acknowledgment. :)

Your up to date AnubanUT2 it's same version you cooked, thats why I put you into the creds :P. PS3 version is a tad hard to crack. I'll wait on the pc release until I finish working on gibs and fps hands.

It looks kinda cewl with the helm on, but rly the face looks terrible, its not the modelling but the design, she just looks ugly and the hair isnt much....Why cant ppl learn how to make hair?

I had this awsome tutorial, gonna search for it.

Thats because hes working on the fpv hands and the gibs. The ps3 doesnt support them so he released it for it already. Youll get the pc version when he finished the model completely.

Regardless, I like the clean look of it. Reminds me a bit of the Hellgate templars. Some alternate colors would be kind of cool.

Added big screenies for you. She has basic team skins, still detailing those. PC will hit as soon as gibs and fps arms and sounds are done.

... Damn PS3 messing up my post... Anyway...

I think this is great, the PS3 rarely ever sees a beta of a character model. I'm glad you realized the beta as it is now is close to as good as it can be for the PS3. Thank you for uploading it for us!

Now PC users will eventually recieve the final and "superior" model with everything that won't be included for the PS3 at the moment. You guys just have to be patient, just like we had to be. But unlike us, you're guaranteed a final version. Sometimes we get the short end of the stick and aren't guaranteed a working model, so you guys should be grateful.

You can check with Alcor to see how he did it for Samus's visor. It turned out really nice.

Cool, Sadly Alcor didn't get the transparency to work right on Samus.

I'll have to keep trying.

if you can't get the transperancy to work, could you try a visual effect, like pasting a texture there that shows the eyes and cleavage as a drawing perhaps? Atleast for the moment?

My only complaint is in a lot of levels the character has a very heavy glow on her and basically looks bright white. Obviously this is something with the lighting or whatever but its pretty annoying looking because it looks like she is glowing.

yeah, been strugling with that issue for a while now. Thats why she's still in beta.

Ah ok. It also seems that this happens to certain textures in game, such as the link gun and some lights in custom maps. Yours it just happens to overly much. Seems a texture or reflection issue maybe....

Great looking model...and it runs very well on the PS3....the only thing that needs tweaking is that the glowing is to strong on the model.Other than that its great....looking forward to the day the PS3 can use first person view for mod models.

Hmm..I see its cool for pc users to keep asking for a cook lol

PC users are acting as they always do and just asking for the model to be released as is even though Mandiga only wants to release it once the FPV arms and other things are done. This is very typical behavior for PC users ... to want beta stuff right away. The only reason the PS3 model was released before the PC version in this case is because not much more can be done with the PS3 model since the PS3 version does not support custom family code. Why hold up releasing the model when it is not going to see any great changes ... whereas the PC version will see some great additions before it is released.

Yeah, a direct URL to the USERDATA.JAM file instead of the rar file, if its not too much trouble of course. Since the update we don't need folders as bigCman123 said, and that way we can download files directly from the PS3 browser (since the PS3 can't unrar :p), that way there is no need to transfer it from a PC.

Is it possible to at least separate the files, so people don't have to download the pc and ps3 versions both together? You could still put the read me folder in the download. If it's a hassle don't bother, just seems a waste to download and unzip it all (46 m), then delete most of it. I only use PS3. Also, thanks for putting the effort into a PS3 version.

Looking at the pic of Dynah holding the Sniper Rifle it would appear that you will need to tweak the way the models holds weapons so that it is more like the retail female models. In the pic it clearly shows that Dynah hand is off the gun by a noticeable margin. Its a really solid model so it would be a good idea to clean things like this up and make the model as technically sound as possible.

Edit: Even though the PS3 doesn't support custom stuff (linked to the family code) something like this is based on the stock animation sets so when you correct the problem(s) on the PC model then when you cook it the PS3 version should be holding the weapons correctly as well. So I would say that before you re-cook it make sure all the weapon holding animations are correct.

I'll keep you all posted, for now take her as she is, planning on redoing her fps arm texture along with custom gibs, transparency and armourless body. Not sure how I would incorporate physix boobs so those of you who want it done help me out by finding some tuts for me.

Played her last night, looks/acts fine...... I vote for major boobage too, like when Kenny was doing cat pee.... Wish I though of that first. While everybodys staring at my hooters, I can put a rocket in their face. Cool Model, liked it, glows a little but not too much (like Erinyes for ps3 does) and you only see it up close, not all the way across the map. It doesn't make you a terget or anything. Thanks again for the PS3 cook.

i dont have any UT3 modding experience, but i would recommend attaching the boobs as you would with a ponytail or cloth (like the robes on some of the ronin teams thighs selections. i hope this helps

Btw could you give her long hair maybe? it would suit her better. Im glad that you listen to what people say because alot of modders dont... cough spy15 cough!

I just finished the d/l of Dynah from funbox3d.com and it was delivered at 36.6KB/s -- ~1/8 the speed; 18min as compared to about 2 min (for a bigger d/l) from nVidia. IOW, there's nothing wrong with my connection to the 'net. Then, as someone else already pointed out, having the PC and PS3 versions package together wastes bandwidth and time when I only want the PC version. I think the other person only wanted the PS3 version.

Then in the Readme file I find

This is essentially the same restriction that EvilEngine has put on the distribution of his Spawn character. What's the deal? Don't you guys want your creations used on-line? I would like to add these skins to our clan server. However, I will not do it if I cannot distribute the files via a direct d/l of the archive from our website.

You want to have control over your work and I can appreciate this. However, I want to have control over my server. When I put custom content on the server, I do not want to deal with version compatibility issues. If I simply put a link to your funbox2d site (or anywhere else) on our website and you upload a new version, then people would possibly be d/l'ing a version from you that is not on my server. If I have the content directly available on our website, then the content from our website will always be the same as the content on the server.

Finally, in the 7 1/2 years that I have been in the Unreal community, these are the 1st times I have seen this kind of restriction on user made content. I am not asking for permission to put Dynah on our server or our website. It will not go either place until the general restriction on distribution is removed -- our loss of what appears to be a nice skin; your loss that your work won't be used. :(

The fact is that I do appreciate the work and skill that goes into these creations and I would like to not only use them but share them with the people that use my server as well.

Sorry to be tongue in cheek, as a ps3 guy hungry for maps/mods I go out of my way to be super polite about it. Seriously though, couldn't you just pm him and ask for permission? Then it really wouldn't be ("...any means not approved by myself"-Mandinga) because he would have approved it. Just a thought. I think the Mod Gods are just sick of having their stuff ripped off and posted all over (which I know you said you don't do). Plus, that just protects the originator's rights to his intellectual property down the line, if anything happens he can show that he always meant to keep control of it rather than make it public property....or something. I think.

I AM being super polite about it -- I'm doing what they ask and not just grabbing it and using it however I please. :)

I thought about posting/PMing for permission but decided against it for three reasons: 1) as I indicated above, the long standing Unreal Community Standard for distributing user created content has been a) don't charge for it, b) keep the archive content intact, and c) don't modify it; 2) we, the users, shouldn't have to ask each and every 'mod' maker for permission to use each and every thing they release - IOW, I'm not interested in being complicit in establishing a new community standard; 3) I would rather they were spending their time creating new content rather than engaging in dialog something like this with each request they get:
Can I use/distribute your map/skin/mod?

Where, when, how, why, etc. do you want to do this?

Thanks for all the input {DvT}JonahHex. Respect for modders wishes with their content and appreciating the work thats done is something that I've come to question after what happened to EE. The reason I have this restriction set in place is because I want to maintain some measure of control over where my content goes, it is after all my property. Everyone can use this model on any game server. I just don't want this to get out of hand. Releasing it on any site other that those I designate just opens up the flood gate for dooche people to post my content without a read me and claim it as their own.

But you do bring up some valid points, I made a Vehicle and a character for Ut2004 that I never released beacause of this kind of theft.

If you think i'm being to jumpy, shoot me a PM an we can discuss this further. But as it stands the restriction will remain.

ROBYER1: Sorry, Dynah wont be getting long hair. Thats one of the things I like about her :P.

I just cannot understand why people can't take good content as is from the creator. Obviously Mandiga has a vision for his character and these constant requests for changing it really bothers me. Let the artist do his thing and be glad he/she is willing to share. If you don't like it the way it is don't download it. And maybe think about learning how to mod yourself if you are one of those people that are never satisfied with the work of others (that is FREE to BOOT) and find yourself constantly asking that this thing or that thing be added/changed/removed from custom content. Especially when the vision of the artist is so clear and the artist is not asking for advice on what to alter.

All issues with these sites have been resolved as of wed 05-22-08

Let me be clear, changing anything on the archive (this includes recompressing, adding/dropping files/changing extension from.rar to.zip) is a modification and is prohibited. I don't care what your excuse is. If your going to distribute my work, distribute it EXACTLY the way you got it from here and at least have the decency to ask, it's not that hard. Post on this thread and ask, PM me and ask which ever you find easier, I may or may not allow you to.

Due to this fact I will issue the following warning: If this continues I will discontinue all UT3 Mods I am developing PC and PS3.

mandinga, I got your friend request over the PSN. Unfortunately you must've tried to add me around the time my PS3 died, since your invitation was timed out when I logged into my account. I am liking this model. Very plain style, which is a nice departure from the design of teh stock characters.

Heya Peeps, Update news,

Dynah will see be updated soon with revamped textures and transparency. Bug fixes include weapons spawning closer to the hands, no more floating weapons. PS3 version will halso have minor bug fixes untill epic fixes the family code issue. I'll keep you all posted.

Well I just noticed that the PS3 file is the old one that I originally did and was never updated so sometime this weekend I will cook this newest one and send you the link. Sorry about that but I just got caught up in other games and of course RL but I will get this taken care of for you and for PS3 gamers very soon.

Dude that is still a good thing ... they only picked four this round and if you make some real strides in the texturing (particularly in the face and hair), fix that transparency, and add some more customization options this model can still place in the other phases. Don't be disappointed be glad that it did get an honorable mention and it is not a reject. Its a good model that went up against some tough competition.

Carefully examine Nyota and Hel, the other female models and see how they dealt with hair and texturing issues, again paying more attention to the face. I have confidence in your ability to make marked improvements and do better in the coming phases ... just don't get down on yourself or your talent (of which you definitely possess).

Also look at Davision's models ... he has FPV arms, custom sounds, custom physics, custom gibs, custom materials. Think about making some additional permutations of Dynah as well (see EE's latest model complete with faction support as an example of this ... just go to the site and as a dev you should have access to the beta ... if not ask EE to give you access and I am sure he will) so that she can part of faction. Add more bot versions so people can do battle with multiple versions of her (like Alcor's Samus model which also has plenty of custom content like Davision's work minus the custom sounds).

Cool ... but the reason I mentioned EE is because Mandiga is a member of our community at EvilEngine.net and in case he was not aware of how to do it and since EE has an actual working model that has faction support, EE is one of the best resources for him. And in case he were to run into any problems he could ask EE since EE has already had succeeded in this aspect. None of this stuff is really rocket science but it can be confusing to folks nonetheless.
