Podcast with more Gears 2 Information

Haven't seen this posted so I thought I'd post it up.

A guy from Game Informer goes on this weekly radio show in America called "Video Games Weekly" and he talks about not only the graphics, but various other things as well.

It doesn't reveal much more than the GI article but really gets you even more pumped for the game this November since he elaborates on the article abit. He begins talking about it 19 minutes or so in (in fact I believe it's pretty much 19 mins on the dot).

Have a listen, it's not alot but it's definetely worth checking out.

Yeah I edited this into the GI thread but figured it'd probably go unnoticed and it's definitely worth some attention. I was so hyped for the game after hearing them gush about the graphics and gameplay. I really can't wait to see some Gears2 gameplay videos especially as they said the graphics look so good ingame that it almost looks like concept art/paintings. The new underground lighting sounds great and the battles they described sounded absolutely epic (sorry for the pun.)

Next to? It will surpass Killzone 2. Compare the Killzone 2 screens to even current Gears and it's hard to say which is better.

I also read on a news site ages ago the Killzone devs admitting to touching up those first screens (as most companies do - they bump up the AA and improve the textures up a notch).

No offence to you man but have you seen the Gears 2 ingame screens from the scans? Even Sony Fanboys have been saying they might buy a 360 for this purely on the graphics, diehard ones n all.

If you want I'll link you up to a forum that did a graphics comparison to GEARS 1 graphics, and I tell you, they are very close on that alone.

Gears 2 will look better. I have no doubt in that after seeing those screens. Killzone 2 doesn't look amazing, and if you think it does, that's fine - just.. well.. it's not as good as you think it looks if that makes sense.

We'll see anyway when Killzone 2 is out and Gears 2 is out :)

Yeah, I was a little dissapointed by the Killzone 2 graphics; I was expecting a little more from them. Also, I think Sony is trying to get their hands on Gears 3, because I keep hearing Sony reps saying this, "Gears 3 needs to be on blu-ray, and not on DVD." Seriously, the number 1 reason why I bought a 360 is because of Gears of War. If the game was a PS3 exclusive, I would have bought a PS3, and if it was a Wii exclusive, well...I don't think the Wii can even come close to handling Gears. You get the point.

I think we should avoid turning this into Gears2 VS Killzone2 but I think its safe to say that both games are going to look absolutely stunning. Bear in mind that those Killzone2 screens are from a very early build of the game that is now nearly a year old. Expect it to look a lot better once they show it again. Between Gears2, Killzone2, and Resistance2 PS360 owners are going to be in shooter heaven by the end of this year.

These guys have to be exaggerating. They act as if Gears 2 is running on the UE4. It should look good, but I don't think the change in graphics is as big as they say it is.

Well of course. I've come to expect that from the media. Things are either astounding or unforgivable. You gotta' run everything through a filter... :p

It should look better, though, especially if the scans are anything to go by.

For example, in the podcast the guy says about how usually if he saw something coming at him in the dark he'd mistake it for a locust only to find out it was his teammate, but now in the dark, he can clearly identify enemies for example.

Seems this new lighting is what is causing the massive improvements.
