To many threads to read. I get the Runtime error loading the first chapter. When I click back into the game it freezes and crashes in the intro right after the line "Is that right?". Every single time. I have installed the C++ 2008 whatever an tried most of the most obvious solutions.

Any new solutions to this?? Are others experiencing this? Are we hoping for a patch?

I've said this in several other threads.

What fixed it for me was to install on the game on a HD other then C. If you only have one HD you can try partitioning it. I can't say 100% that this is the fix for the bug. Make sure you have the Gears and Live patches installed too.

There are many fixes because there are many things that seem to cause this issue with Gears of War PC.

No spoon feeding. Be grateful that some of us are knowledgeable to post solutions in those threads at all so that you can read them. We could keep it to ourselves.

Standupdown: already installed it on antother HD and it doesnīt work. thanks though.

LAiN: Donīt get me wrong .. I have spend hours reading threads and tried different solutions. It just gets a little overwhelming to keep track on any updates (whith thousand of posts) and just wanted to ask. But I take your answer as a no .. no new solutions .. I have to wait for the patch.

I have dual boot with Vista and XP and the errors are exact the same on both systems.

Wow, if you're dual-booting and getting the same errors, its gotta be a common problem, not an OS-specific one.

Have you installed all of the necessary redistributable packages (Visual C++ 2005 Redist, Visual C++ 2008 Redist, .NET framework (2.0, 3.0, and 3.5), and the latest redist for Windows LIVE? That's where I would start.

Amazing .. I have had this game for four months without being able to play because of the above problem. Yesterday I downloaded a pirate copy just to check (my original making exact same problem on dual boot was a little weird) and it is running smooth.

So I guess a file has been corrupted .. disc damaged .. whatever .. Now I just hope that the store will give me a new one so I can play some Co-op. But FINALLY I'm able to play GoW

I guess thats because of copy protection. Also so many months after release and there is no official patch that solves all those bugs. Epic and M$ do not cry when GOW2 on PC sells really bad because everybody gets pirated version instead. You owe me $$$ for this not working GOW game, and I will get even.
