MP map Name: Mulisha

Current Beta version: MP_Mulisha-beta04.war

Changes/Revisions:

1)Added Post Processing Volume for softer visuals
2)Added ambient sounds throughout the level
3)Fixed all Coverlink errors

Author note: I would like someone to host this map for me so I can play it online, please hit me up on live (GT : pdcraft) or send me a PM.

Description:

4 spawns north, south, east, & west all with paths that lead to center (a 2 level building surrounded by a deadly Emulsion pit that, if you fall into it, will kill you instantly).

North & south spawn paths lead to stairs which lead to boom shot up top.

East & West spawn paths lead to area below boom that will have 2 WeaponFactory Pickups hidden away to the sides. Also has East-West Spawn line of sight for cross-map snipe battles!

Note: The catch is that the only way to access said WeaponFactory Pickups is by pushing the buttons which triggers a platform to rise from the Emulsion pit, only then will the players safely advance.

To the East & West of the Boom Building there are caged like areas which makes map navigation better & ties the low spawns to the high.

Note: Each side caged area has 1 ladder which allows for a secondary route to or from the boom area up top (and opens the door for multiple flanking possibilities).

Each spawn will have 1 WeaponFactory Pickup (I was thinking default frags).

That’s about it…tell me what you all think, I am open for new possibilities and suggestions…and don’t be afraid to flame, cause it builds character.

It took some messin' around with, but it worked out nice.
It's fully animated with sound. Once you press the last button the Emulsion starts to bubble up followed by the platform seen in the pics.

The visuals look great, but I am really intrigued by how you are describing the gameplay and I can't wait to try it out. The rising platforms in particular sounds cool. However, there are a couple of things that I should nitpick.

First off, I am hesitant as to whether the ladders will work. Epic didn't use any ladders in their multiplayer maps because they are really counterintuitive. They take you out of the action as you have to wait for an animation to play out. You are also a sitting duck when climbing ladders, and honestly no one wants to have to use them unless it's really worth it. Even at that they should be relatively short ladders to minimize the amount of time spent climbing them.

Please tell me that you're just saying this to give off the atmosphere of the map and not as actual gameplay, because I really cannot see this working at all and I think it would lead to nothing more than frustration if you didn't block off all the emulsion with blocking volumes.

I mean, maybe I'm wrong, but that's just what I would assume it would lead to.

True but the the ladders really arent going to be used as a means of escape. More so for a flank setup. Maybe I should put 2 more ladders so the team that has the top cant cover all routes at once. Also, the ladder climbing animation takes no longer than a curb stomp or a chainsaw. That goes for up and down the ladder....good point tho.

I will look more into these things once I release the beta for gameplay testing online..which should be by weeks end at the latest.

I am have difficulties publishing tho. When I try to publish it always requires me to save my packages; then when I click "yes" to save the packages it opens a DOS browser processes some stuff, then I has a fatal error and boots me out of the publishing. Anyone have any advise?

Do not save the packages otherwise the problem will persist. Unless you have custom content there is no need to save the packages.

Excellent way to incorporate the ladders and platforms into your map. Hope it works out fine, and I also believe you should remove the ability to fall into the imlusion, will make things very frustrating. Map also looks great, see if you can add some detail to its surroundings and on the map itself, but great map so far.

ok, i will block off all danger to the emulsion except for below the boom building, I still think that is a must.

As soon as I figure out the publishing error I will upload for all to play. I figured out that it boots me out every time it starts to cook "COG_City_Architecture_02". I used a Static Mesh from that package called "Neutral_Hope_Cog_MS_SMesh" as cover throughout the map (12 to be exact)
its a gear shaped rock. I troubled shooted and deleted all 12 of the SMeshes, published again, and it worked, it published fine! WTF is going on? Any1?

that package is trouble for me too, i never use it. It crashes my editor everytime I try to open it :( I can't tell you what to do, just that you aren't alone with problems on that pack.

BIG PROBLEM WITH MULISHA::::::::::um, no offense or anything but......You forgot to make this a multiplayer map! Go to view, world proerties, World info and put a check mark by, "bIsMultiplayermap"

Yes please upload for me. Also, is there a new patch updating the current version of the editor? Because the package Cog_City_Architecture_02 is giving me an error message when I start up the editor. I completely reinstalled the game/editor last night cause it was crashing every time I tried to open a map and it seems to be working now. But it keeps outputting that error message that
Cog_City_Architecture_02 was created by a newer version of the editor and cannot be saved.

before you post your third beta, just to lets you know you need to place ambiant sounds around your level. Me and thaur played it and were on opposite teams. We spawned on the same side!

This map has excellent gameplay. I'm still unsure of whether I like the ladders though. For the most part no one used them, but on rare occasions when people needed to make a getaway they would slide down them, so I guess they have some use.

As BloodRaven14 stated, you definitely need some sounds. When the platform comes up out of the imulsion, some noises would definitely help out. And the spawn points are obviously a problem.

A minor issue I had. On the second floor, not all of the ground was uneven. right when you climb up the ladder, there is a small section. you then have to mantle up again to become level with the rest of the floor. I think you should cut that part out and just make the second floor completely level because this small change in elevation breaks up the action more than it should.

Of course, that's very minor and it's not going to break the gameplay flow or anything.

Weapon and cover placement were excellent from what I could tell. There's still some problems with the cover, but I'd assume that that's still WIP. What was there though was excellent.

Ok, I fixed the WarTeamPlayerStart issues and assigned an index of either "1" or "0", the only thing is how do I make it random so the locust & cog players spawn randomly (with there team) at any of the 4 spawn locations after they die? Like Raven Down

Also, I am having trouble figuring out how to play my map online, can someone please explain or direct me to the thread that explains this?

This map reminds me alot of ruins on gears2. Nice map.
