It all started in 1999 when i didn't even know photoshop or anything. I wanted to put my face on a soldier of UT99,
so I gave it a shot. Unreal Tournament has been a passion for me ever since and now i have a full time job doing graphics.

Please explain this. Does this mean you are TELLING the creator what to do with his file? He spent I'm sure countless hours on these awesome mods and you can't take 30 secs to register?

This is a great mutator! The only problem that I notice so far is that it doesnt appear in the picked up weapons list underneath.

i am not to sure what you want. here
but i notice you wont start the game with the weapon, and that you
only replace the sniper weapon....

so the only thing that will show up as the replacement is the Sniper that you set to =True..

you can set up the replacement of all weapons to =True
so all the weapon base will spond the TATSU on there bases..
all bullets will be there if you chose to replace it..

True = will replace for the TATSU
False = the UT3 default weapon stays

I dont want it set in arena mode to replace all the weapons, I just want to replace the standard sniper rifle with your modified sniper rifle. Basically normal play but with your sniper over the original.

My problem is, its not showing in the weapons list during play. Example below:

Oh ok, well i will give you a perfect and easy answer... i made it that way
first because i did not like having these icons in my scope and it is set to priority 10 if i remember well when i coded the weapon..

same as the trans, impact hamer , and the Enforcer never do show in the
icons...

it is more a weapon to be played ARENA, or mixte...... but you will have the weapon but will not show up in the icons ... sorry it's HUD
and it was in the way...

yea it didnt work for me either in weapon replacement. also when you zoom, it gets a grey affect..

Shouldn't a community try to make things as convenient as possible for one another? Do we need yet ANOTHER site for UT3 downloads? Why not just ONE place for it all?

I can answer your questions Secundus. Registering only takes a minute and you only have to do it once. The download speed makes up for the time lost registering. We set it up this way to limit cross-linking from other sites which can hog bandwidth. Unreal Central is a free service to anyone that wants to use it. Do we need another site for UT3 Downloads? I say the more the merrier. Epic has worked hard on providing an awesome game for all of us to escape into and have fun, so at the very least we can all try to do is support it. Many of you may remember UC back in UT99. It was a hot site that I requented reqularly for all the latest info. Over a year ago the Immortal Knightz bought the rights to it and reinvented it. We've invested alot of time and money into it. There are zero ads and no charge. It's not just a download site, but an upload site as well. If you create custom UT content and want a place to showcase your hard work, UC is one of a few places that can do it. If a clan wants to use our site as a storage facility for quick downloads of their server's custom maps, mutators and such, UC can handle the job. Now I know that you registered here at Epic Games Forums or you wouldn't be able to post Secundus. It must of killed you to do so, but in the end it benefits you. If UC can benefit you....register...if it doesn't....don't. Doesn't hurt my feelings either way. ;)

Many thanks for these awesome weapons dudeman. Blow me away... such fine detail... soon as we have compression redirect, these are going on our dedicated server.

All we need now is a sniper rifle that actually belongs in the futuristic Unreal universe and not a static scoped, bolt action piece of crap Epic seem hellbent on n00bing down to baby level so it's virtually useless....

Floating crosshairs have been around for donkeys years...... why on Earth is the scope/crosshairs on the sniper static??!!

What I mean (My terminology may be wrong.. Iám pretty drunk atm...) think of TopGun.. the scopes have two sets of Crosshairs (Keeping it basic we stick with 2) one floats around until it locks on a target, you then have to aling your static cross-hairs with your floating ones to get a lock-on and shoot...

How can a Lighting Gun be replaced by a bolt action powder based gun??? lol

I was thinking why not go the whole hog and re-invent the Sniper by having it fire both sorts of projectiles...

The normal, standard issue bullets you pick up around the map.. but the longer you have your sniper gun (Without dying) it charges up to a certain rate that gives you say 5 or 8 Lighting Gun bolts...... the longer you stay alive, the more LG shots you get...

Meet you half way, so to speak.. lol

60 meg is abit outrageous for 3 snipers m8; cook your content. We all dislike overly large file sizes, no?
you could probably get these down to about 6 meg. Also, there seems to be extra files not really needed in
your .upk's which then you could really get these down to about 3 meg. ie. First Person Mesh really isn't
a needed file either. Unless, you can tell me the importance of this file. I know the 3 person mesh is for
display in the weapons priority page.
All your sound cue's have no 'sound group' either.
Only the SoulCatcher is visable on the weapon replacement mutator.

EDIT: 'Bee-Machine' I seen this on your scopes looks very similar to my Elite Machines scope names.
I like your sounds and the custom textures rock would have liked to see custom ammo textures as well.

All i know Ping is that i learn as i go , i never said it was bug free or at 100 % to everybody liking,

and i dint know how to Cook my package.. ( you are more them welcome to make us a tutorial here for the community ).

As of my souds, we can all ear them dont we ? what does it mater in what folder they are in ? it works ! my script points to where there are...

in my guns since ut99 dint you ?

and yes maybe i did leave contents in my packages, i did not have no teacher to show me the how to ,

all i know is that i never did receive no bad feedback as of yet...

Sorry but thats not how a community is suppose to be!Hmm... over a minute entering registration info, checking email(which can take longer than "30 seconds" if the mailserver is slow or depending on your email provider), then having to login and reload the download page followed by clicking the link and hitting Save

Click link, hit Save. Or even just 'click link' if it directs to a site you've been to before.

And how is it helping the community by making people register to download a file? Especially when many are going to forget the login even exists 2 days later?

This is what i found to be the best reply my man... it is a dream making unreal central , we are just tring to get people to know UC . we work long hours for the passion of UT and for all of you.....

Sorry if this is a stupid question but does this work online? I have the 2nd patch in and a fresh install but can't get it to work from a commandline. It doesn't show up in the new webadmin either. Stumped atm and really like these guns.

?mutator=UTMutator_Beester3.UTMutator_Beester3 is what I added to my commandline if that helps

I would like to use the predator and I only installed the predator files btw. Thanx for any help!

Hi.
1. Tatsu-Sniper, got errors, sometimes shots single, sometimes multiply bullets, but mostly works as a single rifle, 1 shot per second.
2. I Play widescreen, so zoom is streached, that's a second bug.

Hmm... over a minute entering registration info, checking email(which can take longer than "30 seconds" if the mailserver is slow or depending on your email provider), then having to login and reload the download page followed by clicking the link and hitting Save

And how is it helping the community by making people register to download a file? Especially when many are going to forget the login even exists 2 days later?

Hi.
1. Tatsu-Sniper, got errors, sometimes shots single, sometimes multiply bullets, but mostly works as a single rifle, 1 shot per second.
2. I Play widescreen, so zoom is streached, that's a second bug.

Tatsu-Sniper is a Sniper Rifle
it shoots slow when you move, if you stand still it will shoot fast, if you crounch down and walk crunched it will shoot fast..

if you are using the 3 gun combine INI pack i made... the Tatsu is sniper...

if not just config the gun the way you want...

look at the INI file sir. it is perty self explane...

as for the scope if it streach the scope it streach your game too..

Sorry if this is a stupid question but does this work online? I have the 2nd patch in and a fresh install but can't get it to work from a commandline. It doesn't show up in the new webadmin either. Stumped atm and really like these guns.

?mutator=UTMutator_Beester3.UTMutator_Beester3 is what I added to my commandline if that helps

BTW if you only call one rifle out in the commandline it will only push that single rifle texture over redirect which is nice seeing how the files are sizable downloads.

Our clan runs a sniper (will be camping when enough sizable maps) server. We have just installed the Tatsu rifle and it's awesome. I love the looks and the handling and am grateful that you took the time and trouble to create all 3 weapons and then were kind enough to share them with us all for free.;)

We do have a small problem in that recently all of our bots lost their weapons, we're unsure if it's a problem with the gun or with something else. I'm wondering if anyone could shed any light on this for us please?

No we used the rifle as is, and we only use the Tatsu, we have replaced all weapons with it.

sorry, I dont think I've made myslef clear, we have the rifle installed and it works like a charm, but our bots dont have a rifle, or indeed any gun and they dont seem to be able to pick them up. I'm wondering if this is gun related or something were missing in the settings of the server. We used to have the US3 pro sniper rifle and all was ok with that.

i dont think it is this gun doing it, as it plays online great and as no one reported this to me so far..
i am not the greatest to solve this pusel as i have no clue how to install them on servers.
others did that part for me. tks god

Ok this goes out for all the question and wondering...
i am not a pro on the server side as i have no server as of yet, but it as bin tested on a server before it was released..

so i just toke a screen shot off one of the server using the weapons...
so you guys can test and see it does work great... more then that.. well future will tell as we are going to Run ut3 on a server soon and make some fix if needed..

I am looking to emulate the UT99 sniper server experience with the beauty and performance of UT3 so my quest continues :).

Thanks for these awesome rifles MrBee and cyberhawk! truly beautiful and functional rifles for the sniper and freestyle sniper servers out there. Anyone *****ing about a one minute registration process to download these rifles needs to try creating their own mutator to truly appreciate the time and effort.

I had someone connect to my server that said it took 15 minutes to get to 26% any advice would help. my server is off gameservers.com:)

Are your weapons on a redirect or are they pushed from the game server? If they are on the game server it will not only take a long time it will lag everyone else when someone joins and downloads from the server. You really should put the weapons, maps and mods on a redirect if you don't already have it set that way.

Hiya! I have a problem to report. I tested with the SoulCatcher and the bots do not seem to recognise the weapon. Fire up DM in Instant Action with the gun mutator running and bots will not use it. They will use all other weapons but never switch to the SoulCatcher. When they run outta ammo they just use the Hammer until they get another weapon. I can use the gun fine but bots won't use it.

I then used the weapon replacement to replace all regular weapons with the Impact Hammer, and also had the gun mutator running and used Instant Action DM and then the bots just ran around with only hammers and never used the rifle, and it was the easiest DM match I ever had, as I fragged with the rifle and they only used the Hammer :).

It would seem there is an issue with the rifles AiRating. Look at this code from Epic's UTBot class which tells a bot if they have a good weapon or not:

So any weapon with Ai Rating of .5 or less is not considered a good weapon and bot will not prefer to use it and look for another.
So it would appear all you need to do is to bump the weapon's AiRating up and that would fix it.
For example the minigun (UTWeap_Stinger.uc) in defaultproperties has this: AIRating=+0.71, an excellent rating.
Your gun is AWSUUUUUM so I would suggest a real high rating, way above the other UT3 weapons (but not above redeemer), as it's very deadly :D.
The default rating for any weapon (from Weapon.Uc) is indeed 0.5 so unless you specifically set the rating in a custom weapon,
the bots will not use the weapon properly.
This is an easy fix, one line of code, in weapon's defaultproperies section.
I can't verify this for sure because I don't have the source code and can't tell from the U package file.

The other possibility for this is the weapon's HasAmmo() function is not reporting any ammo. If HasAmmo(0) returns false then the bot will not want to use the weapon.

The problem I am reporting is the exact same problem that the others are reporting with bots not using the gun (with translocator and etc), and it has nothing to do with running on a server, as it's easy to see in Instant Action.

Cheers and btw it's nice to have the awsum Zark style of rifle in UT3, i luv the carnage it causes :)

I noticed similiar behaviour with the bots, but thought it might have been the translocator. Your observation has me thinking. There is a directive in the ini - adjAIRating=.000001, I am going to play around with this value and see if it will make a difference.

I had the battletrans working on my server with the beester rifles. Both worked fine but I have switched to the DFB transloc (same issue with bots not using rifles). I am wondering if you have things set up correctly in game ini and startup command. As well you should check the UTMutator_Beester.ini there is a bReplaceTranslocator directive, mine is set to false with the custom transloc loading as a mutator from the startup command and included in the mapvote ini. I have seen some other sniper servers running one beester rifle and the battletrans also.

The adjAIRating directive did the trick for the bots using the rifles. I changed the values to 3.000000 in each of the Beester.ini files and the bots are now using the rifles like pros :) Thanks for the lead warhead2!

yer welcome. Having to adjust an ini file is not a very good option however, as a person can't just install the mutator and get it to work right out of the box. At least it's an option and can be used as a temporary work around.

I did some research last night and found that this gun is reporting to UT a rating of 0.1 which is way way too low. The gun itself should be reporting a good rating. The flak cannon reports 0.9 for a close range enemy, so that gives one a good idea what a good rating is. Since this gun is real deadly and totally desirableable at any range, a rating of 0.95 or even 1.0 would be just fine :D, and that way it won't override the redeemer. Setting it at 3.0 is real high and bots might not wanna use the deemer when they should. Ratings system is a carefully balanced thing and the gun code itself has to keep that balance.

Also from my play testing, this gun's HasAmmo(0) function call is returning True as it should so that's not an issue.

There is a function called GetAIRating() which any weapon can use to adjust it's rating based on the situation (that's how flak cannon knows close range enemies are meat for it). I think however just setting the var AiRating=0.95 in the gun's defaultproperies would solve the issue perfectly, but author might wanna look at GetAIRating function also and make sure it's reporting properly also. This requires author to make that code change. It should also be checked to make sure the mod doesn't have a default low value for adjairating in ini file. After a fresh install of this mod, without having to make any custom changes, gun should be reporting airating of .95 or 1.0 (or whatever) so bots play well right out of the box. At least, that's my story and i'm sticking to it :D.

Btw I am a coder too and have access to lots of tools that why I can get all this info.

The above fix should solve all or at least most issues with bots using the gun.

Again let me express my thanks for this gun! It's nice to have a powerful instant hit weapon back in the fray. I am a Hit Scan Oriented, Stars Wars Style Jumping, N@@b Eating Twitch Hitting Fanatic, and this gun is much to my liking, O yeeea! :D :D.

Hi all,
we are a Sniper Clan and we use the Soulcatcher Rifle because thats a realy nice Weapon.
We use also the {dfb}stealthTrans and the Bots will not switch to the Rifle.
I set AIRating to 0.9 and 1.0 but the Bots will not use the Rifle.Must i set anything else in the Beester.INI??
We have tryed another Translocator which will work fine with the Rifle and the Bots but Sometimes after a Respawn you have the Trans in the hand (normally the Weapon) and can not change to the Rifle until you are dead.

Works for me with the all three rifles and the the dfb transloc. The adjAIRating=4.400000 set in all three ini's and bStartWithSoulCatcher=True.

Check for the same ini directive (adjAIRating) inside both the perGameConfig and the perMapConfig. I just tested with the battletrans and bots are using rifles with these settings as well.
