Memorial (Multiplayer Map)

This is my second Gears of War map. (Not second map ever I have been mapping for years.) It is called Memorial, my dream is to someday work for Epic, I try to put as much detail in my maps as possible. There are over 15 custom static meshes, all created by me. (Except for the main statue, my brother made that. But I rigged and posed him.) Around 20 custom Materials, alot with scrolling speculars to simulate rain drops. And my favorite, a custom static mech of rain drops so I dont have to use a scrolling specular, and I could put them on already made meshes and materials. There are ALOT of droplet models, the FPS kinda took a hit, but it should run around 45 - 80 FPS. (that seemed to be the range in the editor, but I think GoW caps the FPS at 60.) I think the effect looks ALOT better than simulating it with scrolling speculars. I used two custom packages, I just put them in your Enviornments folder. (DETAILS ON INSTALLING ARE IN THE TEXT FILE IF YOU DONT KNOW HOW!)

Looks great! One of the best maps out there for Gears right now. Epic were hiring people not too long ago who had experience with level designing/creating. Maybe there are still some spots left. If you're looking for a job right now, I would suggest you apply while Epic still needs more people because this map looks great and you would do well.

looks nice on your screens, BUT when i try to load the map the game crashes after 5 seconds (don´t know why) i use gow v1.1 and newest drivers + windows updates... (yes, i have read you install instructions, too)

i can only open your map in editor, but then the content from the environtments folder won´t be loaded = and then the map is full of bugs

...can you say me what i should do? :confused: i´ve got no more ideas

Hmm I am not sure, It should work, try putting the packages in your enviornments in..

D:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Gears of War\WarGame\CookedPC\Environments

See if that works, Gears of War always gives me troubles!

anyone else with the same problem?

edit: omg... i had to go to the editor, click "build all" and save the map again. now it works, but...

That's what happens to me when I load Clocktower and Sanctuary. Btw, the map looks great, but there probably won't be very many maps ever to come up to par with the originals.

Damn, this might be my last Gears of War map. It is giving me nothing but problems. The editor crashes like EVERY 2 seconds, and it is causing me nothing but frustration.

Time to map for UT!

maybe. but i guess that's more due to the fact that most people who have tried the editor so far have had problems with it and not because people can't come up with great maps :(
