It seems slightly plain in areas, like i've said to others, and have had this mentioned to me, add some buildings in the background or other meshes, it seems too plain and unreal (not the good kind) the way it is. Don't get me wrong I think this looks decent, but you should realize it can be A LOT better. You seem to have a good layout, and that is one of the most important things. You may want to change the sky color, because the greenish hue of the ground mixed with the red tint of the sky makes me sick :/ But don't let that discourage you, keep up the good work! :D

thanks for the feedback, I plan on adding a lot to the look of it, before i do that i want to get some gameplay in via the beta testing, to see where things need to be moved. No use in decorating the hell out of something that may be destroyed in a week. any suggestions on places where cover may be needed

you may want to add a few rubble piles here and there. A little disaster goes a long way. A lot of debris, well, now that's gonna be epic.

Also in the middle, on the lower section i noticed something-repeated textures. Probably one of the worst things that could happen to your map(well its not that bad...) Right click on the texture, go to properties, then change the scaling to like 8 or 16 then click apply. That will help things look a bit more realistic.

Thanks for all the suggestions i appreciate them. last night i uploaded an updated version with some fixed cover links, and a little more cover. i think everything is functional so im going in to finish off the decor, this week.
i feel more cover locations will be nice all over the map. Also just like TheDarkAlly859 said the sky is a bit distracting, you may wanna select a nice calm sky maybe :) add some good big cover pillars, some particle emitters like dust winds ,leaves falling etc.
Anyways nice work ;)

To change those ugly yellow rocks to something more realistic, find a piece of rubble or debris that has the desired texture, or find the material in the browser, go to materials when you select the static mesh, and replace the current ones with your new material. I did that for my map.

this map is all about gameplay
I hate that people are trying to use this as an excuse not to improve visuals.
Say all you want about gameplay, but the fact of the matter is that visuals DO enhance an experience. Why can't you have excellent gameplay AND visuals? One doesn't cancel out the other.
If you personally believe that the visuals COULD be improved (which you pretty much verified by the way you worded things), then don't just shrug it off. Do something about it.

People have different opinions about mapping. Some are new and some are better. Some have a more artistic side to them and other like gameplay more. Anyways the test is tonight, if you wanna play show up.

No problem, I don't like it when people pick at other peoples stuff. No-ones an expert with the editor and everyone has their own style. Haha I didn't read it right, that's OK I'll be there tomorrow.

You're taking what I said way too personally. I am speaking from what YOU said. Let me quote you:
im not doing anything else cosmetically im only changing functional flaws, this map is all about gameplay.
The way you worded this really gave me the impression that you are acknowleding that you could improve the map cosmetically, but you believe that the focus should be on gameplay so you will not try to improve it visually. Correct?
My point is that, if you truly feel that way, YOU should never ever release something that you do not feel is up to par. In the end, regardless of what the rest of us say, it's you that matters, as you are the author. Are you happy with the visuals? Maybe you are, I don't know. But the way you worded it really gave me the opposite impression.
I never said the level looked like crap
When did I ever even infer that it did? In fact, if you reread my post you will see that I never even commented on how I felt about your map AT ALL.
dont just make broad generalizations.
Again, I didn't even comment on how I particularly felt about your map. Please read through my post again and see what I was really trying to get at.
I don't like it when people pick at other peoples stuff.
Then what's the point of human communication? Otherwise we're just verbally massaging eachother's egos. Criticism is a vital part of getting better at something. Until you can accept that you will never improve. The single most important word of advice I could give anyone is to get over yourself. Once you learn that it's all about improvement you can focus less on getting your feelings hurt and more on getting better.
Taffer lets see your map , how are the visuals .
Oh definitely. I am hoping to release screenshots within about 2-4 weeks (although I'm not promising anything). If you dislike the visuals in those screenshots, I would very much love to hear your criticisms and will do my best to improve them.
Sorry for the long post but I really hate being taken out of context and I definitely didn't want you to get the wrong idea, pfilotheterrible.

Criticism is good, but if the person likes it the way it is, then why should they care. I mean he's not going to change the map to make it up to others standards just because everyone else doesnt like it.

I addressed that very point in my previous post, although I don't blame you for missing it in my monstrous pile of points

I understand your point taffer but if your going to criticize something make it constructive criticism. jumping to conclusions based on a forum post isnt valid, Play the level and let me know what you think need fixing, other than that any points you made (which yes you did have many valid ones)dont make the level any better. Im not looking for suggestions on the look of the level, there is a reason its a beta, i need to know if cover links work and if the placement of cover is correct. thanks

All right everyone! after last night testing (thanks to the 25tharmored, with new members XF AShTHERA and MASTER DAMAGe) A few new features are going to be added. a staircase is going to be added to the back of each bunker for easier assault, as well as a few more jump points where youll be able to jump from the second level to the first. a few more fixed cover links and the hammerburst will be hidden in there as well. Overall the testing went well last night and this map should be ready to be published in a week or so.
