Description: This is a remake of the Halo map named Wizard. This was a great close quarters map and I felt it would be right at home with Unreal Tournament 3. This also has full bot pathing so you can play singleplayer without having to find a server with someone hosting this map.

Is anyone else having this problem? I don't have a PS3 so I can't exactly test these things. I cooked it the same way I cooked the beta so maybe you extracted it wrong, or downloaded the wrong region?

Ah Wizard/Warlock we had some fun times together back in the day. I'm most definitly going to give this a shot. There are only a few halo maps that would work in UT i reckon, And this is most certainly one of them. Foundation Possibly, lockout, we'll have to wait and see ;)

the file structure etc all appears fine... will have to wait 3 hours till i get home from work to try :(

No probs here. I tried it and it worked just fine. I unpacked it using WinRAR to a memory stick, put the stick in my PS3 and imported it. Played it once. Never played Halo before, and my thoughts were that this is a really small level like a typical QIIIA level. Not too complex or great, but now and again might be fun to play.

Very enjoyable map with UT3 gameplay. Some of the powerups seems a little awkwardly placed... I would have preferred something up in the center where the shock rifle is... but overall it plays extremely well.

Damn,why would they get there panties in a bunch....its not like its the original map...oh well...

But yeah a Resistance mod map in UT3 would be awesome...nottingham would fit perfectly.I hope Zubren mods more Halo maps....

Well Zubren, if you're interested in making Nottingham, you can look at my Resistance Map Request thread in the requests section. It has all the map layouts and weapon locations. I haven't checked your map out yet, since the map isn't on UT3MOD.com yet, but I'll make sure to do it as soon as I can.

By the way Zubran, what Will Mr Bret Hart do next? (creator of the timberland mod)

-He supposingly didn't want to cook it because he was afraid of being sued, yet he reports that he didn't copy any textures or such off Halo. It was supposingly just the map idea.

Rember folks:
You can be sued for duplication or infringement on a IP.
You can't be sued for imitation. (which Zub, you did exactly that)

Good job on the map, but alittle too small for my taste.

A master chief mod would be grounds for copyright infringement even if you didn't copy any textures or models. I am sure MS wouldn't sue if it was done the 360 version however.

However,

You make a mod of people wearing green armor, with helmets and face mask with no insignias and called the mod something else....Who knows?

PS3's can't have helmets yet, so it wouldn't be masterchief. Whoa, why am I getting into that?

Anyway, keep up the good work. I think this version of the map is very polished, and works great with the UT3 formula. Thanks again!

Actually there have been a few custom Master Chief models that have been released for different games that haven't received any trouble.
For example:

That one came out for Counter-Strike:Source and Half-Life 2. It's technically more detailed than the Halo 3 model, but the Halo 3 model still looks better. But anyway, custom content can't be sued over. If he reused assets from Halo 1 and Halo 2, then it would be a problem. For example, Project Torlan for Unreal Tournament 2004. That mod disappeared completely.

edit: somebody posted a shot of Bret's bloodgultch and claimed it, got to love the internet huh?

and after a few rounds with wizard I concur the map is very well put together, it was actualy better then I expected, as in I thought it was the "original" wizard for a moment :D

Wow, THANK YOU for finding an official statement on this. And if Bret Hart doesn't want to publish his map for the PS3, that's his own fault. He's pretty much losing out on about 60% of the userbase that would actually play his map.

Yeah I tried to tell Bret,nothing will happen but you cant force people if they are afraid to try and not do research of there own of what they can do when doing remake mod maps from other games.

Oh well,I appreciate the work Zubren....keep the Halo maps coming as much as you can lol,and if you can make a model as well..please do.

Yeah i heard about this too some person said that it might be the code that might be wrong with it the ps3 is looking for the code helmet instead of head. which the pc uses head. I hope some one will try this.

Getting back to the actual map itself, I find it makes for some fun games with a small player count, but gets really spammy if you increase it above 4.

The ladders to the powerups break the flow, I recommend jump pads instead, while the inclusion of so many powerups on such a small map seems very overkill. Perhaps cutting out one of the wepon powerups (either the UDamage or the Berserk) as well as the Keg or the Shield Belt might make things a bit less crazy.

Weapon placement is good and I never survived long enough to run out of ammo.

The visuals seemed consistent, but many surfaces seemed a bit sparse, some extra SM detailing would not go astray.

Yeah, get real people. There have been countless skins and models made for UT2004 and other games, including Master Chief, that are technically copyrighted characters. Nobody cares and they shouldn't either. Somebody already made Bender. Do you see Fox coming after them? Probably not.

"Hey, that green guy with the space suit is cool! Where's he from?"
"Halo."
"Oh cool. Maybe I'll check that game out!"

How is that bad? They created another customer.

Uh dude we did not disappear completely ... the website with all our files is still up and many sites across the web still have our files up for download. Also you might be interested to know we had an agreement with MS where we were allowed to use any PC based assets that exists for our mod just not anything that is on the consoles but once it comes to the PC if there are existing extraction tools then fine. So yeah maybe you should not speak about mod teams when you don't know the details of their agreements. Its not cool to spread misinformation around.

Also just so you know we were in development for over two years and along the way released HaloUT P1.0/1.5/1.75/1.751/CXP and the very talented Evil Engine, who would never put his professional rep on the line, was our Chief Developer and we never had one issue with MS or Bungie and news of our mod was on their BBS before I had even secured permission to do the mod. The only reason it came to an end was that I felt it was time to move after the CXP and the HaloUT community who I originally left control of the assets with so they could do a future product never did anything further. I may actually be doing some mini-mod for UT3 based off of Halo 2 now that it is on the PC and this would be within my original agreement with Microsoft. :cool:

It wont download for me of any filefront site keeps getting stuck at 60% anyone no sumwhere else i can get this from

Yeah, that was a mess up on my part, I actually searched for Project Torlan before I made that post and for some reason google had a link to the old Project Torlan site, which is no longer running, and has since been replaced by Spartan7. I was aware you guys had a few releases out but since your old site was listed when I searched, I could really only come to the conclusion you guys had been shut down because I couldn't find any current links to your files. (In the 5 seconds I searched :P) So yeah, I officially retract that statement. Sorry :(

I like this version of Wizard. At first glance I thought it was too dark, but it really is fitting. I love all the little details like the broken pipes spewing steam and stuff.

I'd love to see a CTF version of this, since the Halo version was a CTF map.

The layout is right on the money.

Excellent work, I think this plays better in UT3 than it did in Halo. :)

It does play better on UT3 in all honesty. In my opinion anyway. The gameplay on Halo is the reason I didn't like the series. It's too slow, and too easy....again, my opinion, obviously alot of people like it. But I did like Halo's multi-player maps. They were well laid out. Those maps with the untouchable gameplay of UT3 and you got yourself a winner. I was hesitant to put a Halo map on my PS3, since I'm not a sacraligious fellow, but I decided to DL it earlier and it is a great remake of a good map. I apprieciate it. Thanks.

Just tested it on ps3 works great and its a blast to play this map in ut3 . Loved it in halo2 and stil do . Great remake thx for making and cooking this .

And if you remain patient and push it to the back of your mind you will get one as soon as the faction issue/bug has been corrected by Epic. Surely all the PS3 folks in this community know about the missing head bug on custom models so right now there is nothing to give. But since the licensing issue thing is all cleared up I am sure that in time when the patch is fixed you will be graced with a slew of impressive custom models and Master Chief will be among them. ;)

It is funny reading that guy's post since he was so sure it was copyright infringement, and we've probably all seen MS's stance on it. There's nothing they can do about it.

OK, I was told how to open the editor to get the recommended player load, so I got all the info from all the maps except two (both crash the editor) and this is one of them. Anyone know the recommended player load for this one? Would it be the same as the CTF version by a different author?
