Just got the GOW like a week ago and still checking it out.

Do I need to forward any port for gears of war (360)?

When im out of cover and up close to someone, is it better to shoot them with the aim button or without?

Are there any more DLC maps coming out besides the ones that I already downloaded for the downloadable content after I did the update (on my 360)?

Is a perfect "AR" (as you GOW people reffer to it) hard to do?

What is the best tip that you an give to a new player like myself?

Are there any good sites or links that you are familiar with that gives good tips on how to play GOW for a beginner?

Please advise and thanks in advance.

the best way to learn is to play. If you read the forums you will read about host advantage. You should probably start out hosting matches at first. To answer your first question you don't need to aim during close battles if you are using the shotgun or lancer. By this i mean don't use the left trigger unless the person you are shooting is far away or running away from you. To get the timing on ARs you should play a little of the campaign. It is actually quite easy after you become used to the timing and after a while you wont even need to watch the reload bar. When playing on line you will probably be the first to die a lot. Nothing personal but we all went through it. Use you after life time to observe your teammates. When dead use the LB and RB buttons to cycle through your teammates. Watch them and try to learn what they are doing and emulate it. Each Gears player plays differently so you will need to learn which style fits you best. I am a run and gun player that switches to shotty right off the bat and chase after that first kill. This either results in a quick death for me or an exciting extermination of the other team. Other players go for weapons like the sniper or torque bow and look for good cover to set up and pick off the other team.

OK this is getting a little long so i am going to end here as i am sure others in the forums will respond as well.

p.s. find friends to play with-- my gt. is - Steve 0 TTU

The best piece of advice I can give is to play the campaign a bit and then do exactly the opposite in multiplayer. A few examples.

1. Don't hide in cover too long, you are not helpin your team out if you are hidin the whole time and you will be flanked or taken out with a sniper rifle. You should use cover sparingly only when you need it or are hiding. Unlike campaign where you can sit and fire from the same piece of cover during every fight.

2. While the hammerburst rifle may be your best friend in campaign mode due to its damage and accuracy, its almost useless in multiplayer unless you are experienced and can aim well with it. The shotgun which is almost useless in campaign mode on the other hand becomes your best friend. If you decide to master one weapon, master this one.

3. Learn how to down someone with a melee attack. While the melee attack is near useless in campaign mode (except against wraiths) its a great way to do a lot of damage and take out another player.

4. Boomshot = Godshot. In campaign I wouldn't even bother picking up such a useless weapon but in multiplayer its arguably the best weapon on the map and the one your team should try to secure.

the perfect AR is easy to do when you get use to it..... but it all depends on what weapon you are using, i, at least, cannot active the pistol or sniper then go and try to active the torque..

the best tip for a new multi-player is: your going to die alot until you get experiance playing the game, just dont get discouraged.

if you and someone on the other team are looking over the same cover at eachother with shotguns, either aim over the cover or jump over it and turn around as fast as you can and blast him. simple, effective, and for the other guy, messy.

use your weapon of choice until you get comfortable with it, then find another gun you like and get good with that. not a good idea to be good with only the sniper on a map that doesnt have one

Just got the GOW like a week ago and still checking it out.

Do I need to forward any port for gears of war (360)? eh ?

When im out of cover and up close to someone, is it better to shoot them with the aim button or without? Depends of the gun youre using, but at close up its better to use the shotgun

Are there any more DLC maps coming out besides the ones that I already downloaded for the downloadable content after I did the update (on my 360)? Maybe, nothing announced yet

Is a perfect "AR" (as you GOW people reffer to it) hard to do? nope, might take a while for some people but after while it becomes as easy as breathing

What is the best tip that you an give to a new player like myself? TAKE COVER OR DIE

Are there any good sites or links that you are familiar with that gives good tips on how to play GOW for a beginner? Google is your friend :)

Please advise and thanks in advance.

Thanks for all the sound advice everyone, I really do appreciate it. Please feel free to add anything you want to add as I am really taking all this information with the intention to apply when "in game".

Thanks again.

Another tip,the melee button is your friend:
1-In a shotgun fight if ur almost dead and u get the chance to melee the guy can really hurt him.
2-When u downed a guy, meleeing is the fastest way to finish him off, plus u dont waste any bullets, really usefull if a sniper is after you.
3-Great way to get the execution achievment :)

oh yeah a painful lesson we all learned, you cannot and i repeat CANNOT melee twice with the shotgun. This also means if you melee someone down with the shotty like suggested above you have to shoot or curb stomp them or if nobody is around chainsaw them.
