if your talking about the xbox 360 version its still as bad. I tried playing the multiplayer a week ago and after one game i said to myself "that is exactly why i quit playing" It just isnt balanced and the host advantage is still unbelievable. Dont start playing again... its just not fun.

this is kind of crap. there are alot of games that have the worst player as host or the host is nice enough to only use weapons that dont provide him/her an advantage.

Every single weapon gives the host some kind of advantage over what other players would have.

Unless the host is doing nothing but throwing frags and using the boomshot, then they are using their host advantage in some way.

I've definitely had instances where my boomshot didn't damage an enemy with a direct hit. I would imagine that this doesn't happen for the host :D

sorry about the stupid comment what i meant to say is a lot of the host i have come into contact with usually are not that good or play using not so smart tactics on purpose. I mean when i host which is rare i never travel in a group and usually only use the shotty. I know its powerful but very defendable.

There is of course host advantage, but it isn't that bad. I prefer top play player matches or matches with friends. I hate you whiners on GoW.

seems most games using the 'unreal3 engine' cater to the host in multi-player games.

I'm in the same boat as you, Suspect. I loved the game when it first came out, and played it for months after, but then I just got tired of the host advantage, which in all honesty, isn't half as annoying as some of the jerks who play.

For example, I get killed by the host who clearly had the adv. he admits that, and we go on playing, but then you have the host who kills you, then yells, curses, and swears that there is no advantage, yet calls foul, leaves negative feedback, etc. when he is 'host killed'. It honestly is what ruined a great game for me. I'll still play local MP, or do some syslink with friends now and again, but I tend to stay off of LIVE with GoW.

Does the PC version have host advantage? I remember I was playing the 360 version at my cousin's house and I shot an active reloaded shotgun bullet right in front of the host and he/she didn't die, and because of the host advantage, he/she managed to shoot me with the shot gun right before he/she died from my shot.

PC version definitely has host advantage. If you have a good connection with the host you will be just as good as him though.

should i start playing again? Give it a go for a few hours and see how you feel about it, No harm in trying to get back into it.

i only got it a year ago, but ive played it almost every day since then. my box has been broken for 3 weeks now, still waiting to get it back. it feels like forever since ive played. glitching, abusive talk, bugs.. all that, dont make me for a second want to put the controller down. ive got a core group of buddies, or 2 groups, and we'll fill a room and play for hours. that's when you have the most fun. without the greatness of xbox live (say what you will about that statement), gears would be boring.

edit: i guess i don't have anything to complain about cause i couldn't care less about getting seriously... ive got like 500 kills, maybe 6. i understand how bugs and glitchers are a menace to ranked play.. but host advantage.. get over it. it won't change in gears 1, so no sense in bringing it up. it's just as you remember it.
