OK people time for a super update from the Alpha. We (me and cjcamilla) have finished the beta for Troika Prison. There are things still to be added but IMO its mostly complete. But to know exactly what to put in we need alot of feedback. I made updated the video. cjcamilla uploaded it to youtube.

Things Added:
-Towers have been lowered and are accessible from the ground.
-Snipers and torque bows on the ground have been replaced by grenades
-Added a Raven on each side of the map and can be used for cover
-Added a Hammer of Dawn in the middle surrounded by barricades
-Added 2 scenery buildings on each side of the map


Known issues/Things to be added:
-The covernodes on the ravens arent the greatest, will be fixed in later builds
-We will put destroyed cars used for cover around the map
-Anything you guys suggest (as long as its not too hard lol)

Add something, to see whats holding the platform, where the troikas are at. Kinda dumb just to have the floating in air ;p

at first i was gonna let it float b/c i thought it looked cool but then i just said why not. so i took ur suggestion and made a large support beam under them. i think i will put a ladder but i have to first figure out how to do it. for now the players that spawn where the troikas are are trapped

Try to add some detail. Make it look pretty :P. The sniper map was fine and all but... box maps with guns will get old eventually.

i guess for a 1st map it at least shows you kinda know what your doing... KINDA. I mean its just extremely bland looking. i could probably whip up this same map in about 20 minutes. Just put more time into it, and make it look good. Like somone else said, this map would get old after a while.
At least you got your first map out. keep it up though.

EDIT: this is the beta build though so ill definetly give ya some slack. Also In the screen shot, their is a trigger actor at the top of the tower... what is that trigger for?

Just an idea you could play around with if you want. You could make it a cool single player encounter or somthin

Oh and how did you get the wall that surrounds the map to stretch like that? What properties did you edit??

u just use the the non-uniform scaler. its on the top too bar somewhere.

My friend suggested that i should put the troika towers down alot which i will do, making it accessable from the ground

i might also put an emergence hole or something in there

or i might just completely remold the map im not sure right now. stay tuned.

o and how did u put that brumak in there?

You can spawn any AI character by some simple kismet which is the green K at the top right in the tool bar. Here is what the scripting looks like. There is a tutorial some where on here that can help with this that ill look for the link. If i cant find it ill try to explain it. or else go to this site http://www.avld.org/pages/tuts/tuts.htm
lowering the troika towers would do your map a great deal of good. Try to keep the combat somewhat close as well.
oh and thanks for telling me how to scale that!

i will finish this map and then will make a new map based off this one.

ok everyone, a little bit of an update. ive changed it from beta to alpha (and i have a feeling it should be just a concept lol) i lowered the towers so it will be accessable from the ground. i am playing around with the AI and hopefully u will be able to call in AI reinforcements during multiplayer. i took out the 2 tall middle walls as well.

another update. ive decided to scrap the AI idea. i also chose to put a second level underneath the main floor. downstairs will be where most of the weapons will be kept. one team will spawn underground one team will spawn where the towers are. annex and KOH could be fun and challenging that way. or do u people think this is too hard. i probably wont have any screenshots until the second level is somewhat completed

It looks like a fun map, not one for the actual skill but fun. Fun > Skill always. Keep it up I would like to see more from you. (reads on ladder stuff)

another update:
at first i thought i was gonna scrap this map, but my friend decided to help me out on this map so i will be continuing this after all. i have also scrapped the idea of having a second floor. i am hoping to release a beta release soon heres the changes from the playable alpha:

-Towers have been lowered and are accessible from the ground
-Torque bow and sniper have been removed from the ground and replaced with grenades on each side
-Hammer of Dawn will be in the center
-alot of destroyed cars and trucks will be put in and other decorations
-Will be Annex and King of the hill friendly

sounds good make sure you put some buildings and stuff in the background. that really helps the immersiveness of the map.

to fill up that space you need to use terrain patches along with small hills & a river flowing in between, that will create a whole illusion of a rugged mountain area. You need to rework on the ground setup. I suggest you take a good reference look of gears prison map.

Towers are going to look good only if you are planing to add large surrounding terrain also.

Put some more scenery and make like a hammer of dawn in the center with a round sandbag there so teams can fight over it.

We have already decided to put a hammer in the mid, the round sandbag might be a way we will go...

on the contrary, the towers have been successfully lowered and a few vehicles we threw in and i think that calls for some updated screens. we await ur feedback!

Well I mean I want to release new screenshots along with the latest update, that would be best (along with the actual release).

Good idea, great actually, but looks totally unfinished. Adding the details and taking the time to do all of the little things will enhance this by 100x, I know so, a fairy told me.

Tonight at 12:00am EST we will be holding a test server using this map. if anyone wants to join please respond or just join our game. :)

Also if anyone wants me to hold test servers during this week i will be more than happy to do that.
