GOW Online...(PC)

Sup GOW forums I am a UT3 Player and Epic has done a great game on that game, but you cannot just play one game you gotta play a few so I decided to go for another EPic game because of how much they have pleased me with UT3 and I just wanna support them by buying their games. But before I buy I have 1 question, is there a lot of players online, does anyone have any player/server stats ?

GOW is lacking support with dedicated servers. So the only games online are the hosted ones, which can be a real bummer if the person hosting is losing and decides to close their server which SUCKS!!! I'm hoping for dedicated servers too so that this game can last longer though I fear it will be going the same way as Kane & Lynch unfortuately.

Really !?!? Thats sucks hmmm. Doesnt Epic even have severs up for this game liek in UT3.

if they do then you need to be a Live Gold member to see them. I've only started with a Silver account, so can't confirm this at the moment. I have a 1 month trial of Gold but have not activated it yet. Still need to play more GOW on campaign mode and not versus.

no dedicated servers on gold either. the only difference between silver and gold is that you get to play ranked matches that allow you to get artificial achievements. Not worth $60 and every pc gamer knows this.

Gold Xbox Live account costs 50$ per YEAR. It's not a big deal. But if you don't have an Xbox 360 then I understand.

There are people that play GoW PC online but not near as many as the 360 version. But the reason behind this is simple. GoW for 360 has been out for a year longer, 360 hardware is cheap, GoW is probably more popular with Console gamers too.

But the PC GoW group will grow.

You don't have to pay for XBL to play Gears of War for PC online. However you will be restricted to certain ways of finding a match. I think without paying you can't play Ranked Matches. I think you can only play player matches and list matches. I know when you create a player match you have the option of only allowing people in that have Gold. Really if you don't pay for XBL Gold you aren't missing anything other than Ranked matches.

i think with more games coming out using live then paying a £30 annual sub is worth it just to be able to play ranked matches.

it would be cool to be able to play cross platform, but there is another issue with the pc that most of us console gamers probably have felt at some point.... why cant we fight the giant turtle (i forget its name right now)?

it is pretty crappy that this cross-platform thing is still not working after MS said that it was the main feature with Live not so long back. I remember hearing that PC Gamers would be able to play against XB Gamers on Halo 2 and Shadowrun I guess it was all down to another marketing ploy in that case.

so the c ross platform doesnt work. Thatsd an xbl achievement , to beat a player on another platform, guess thats not happening.
