I have yet to find one person playing Gears of War (pc) in Australia. The fact that a Pc games doesnt have dedicated servers has made multiplayer games outside the USA almost impossable for me.
If there are any Australian or New Zealand player out there please post in here or send me a message in game.
my gamename is Wa1sh << spelt with a 1 look me up :)
any news on Dedicated servers being patched in ? i think Gears would be huge as on Xbox if they did that.

No, there aren't any dedicated servers on any version of the game.

which makes scence for a console but PC has always has dedicated servers and always should. Internet speeds of the general public are not up to scratch really... then again with a maximum of 8 players i can see why Epic didnt feel the need to include them .. a mistake in my oppinion

Hi to you. The Australian release of this game has been just as much a debacle as UT3. No advertising. At least retailers allowed you to purchase the game when they had it in store, unlike UT3 where you could not buy the game, even though they had it on the shelf and every other country was playing it. Yes, the Australian distributor disabled retailers from selling it even though we got it weeks late (well done... truly great effort).
Anyway I digress...
There has never been Australian server games for GOW PC when I checked. The list is always essentially empty.
I suppose a lot of people can't run it for starters and the Live crap has put more people off. Add to that the fact that EPIC has effectively disowned any association with the game and barely made any posts regarding planned fixes, choosing simply to delete and lock CUSTOMERS LEGITIMATE posts of complaints.
All told, I played through the single player once. I decided that the jerkiness of the game and the lack of any servers was simply not worth putting up with anymore and just gave the game to a friend. $70 AUD down the drain maybe but it has been months and EPIC's silence confirms nothing will be fixed.
I hope you find someone to play against but I think this game is one for the bargain bin straight on release and there is no way people will be attracted to it now.

I was having great fun with this game and even hosting a few Aussie matches but then it stopped working it wont even accept the update so i can't play on live, so i was playing gears on 360 and now my xbox has frickin died so i cant play gears at all.
And considering the lack of support for the 360 version i dont think we will be seeing much for the PC anytime soon, i actually remember when someone at Microsoft (before GoW was released) saying that it would have the most downloadable content out of all 360 games.
Funny thing is what have we got for the 360 6 maps and a new game mode wow no wonder ppl are going to play Gaylo3 and CoD4(CoD4 is great but i prefer Gears) i dont care about GoW2 at the moment cos its not out so give us sumthing new untill GoW2 comes out and atleast fix the PC version....

like to agree with you on that one Walsh. Just would be nice to get cross platform implemented so some of the PC'ers can whoop the XB'ers butts.
:p
