This is by no means the final version, so any feedback would be appreciated, good or bad.
Please, no comments simply saying you don't like remakes.. :)
I've tried to capture the feel of the original, while updating it a bit, and most importantly keeping the gameplay from the original.
I also wanted it to have a much higher framerate than we are used to.
It's a nice map for DM, Duel and TDM which is why I chose it to remake.
Already had some feedback, and will defo be making some ceilings higher so no more hitting your head on certain bits.
I might also replace a couple of ceilings with open sky like the original had.
Will also add a few more meshes I expect to make it look nicer.

Nice work, wouldn't know if it plays the same since i never played the original game, but still, plays good enough, any chance your going to sly away from the BSP stuff?

Just a little comment on it: you should try to make it look more "UT3esque" i mean the layout is pretty the same as Codex which identifies the map (and thats good). But adding more detail to it would be nice too.

i played it and i approve of the sexiness of this map...thumbs up
oh just a tiny bug for bots: they seem to get stuck trying to jump from the water to the minigun and just kidna hop in one spot....
easy kills ;p but it should be looked at

Cheers, will take a look at that.
I've actually been removing bsp as I've been adding meshes, will try and add a bit more detail in places and fix some bugs.

Looks definately like codex, anyway the lightning needs some work and as said before it would be nice if it looks like it belonged in ut3, other then that keep the great work up! :)

The layout looks nice and matches the original map. I agree that it could definitly look more like UT3s quality. By doing so, dont be afraid to re-use existing content from UT3s current maps. I see other people have done it and it works. Codex is my all time favorite map from UT99, so I cant wait to play it! Kool, keep it up!

Is it me or scaling looks like from UT2004?
Lets hope not ... I really like the fixed scaling. It adds much more realism (well immersion is probably the better word here) to the battles and that is part of what separates the two versions.

Thx for the replies.
Scaling is 1.25x the original.
You dodge 1.3 times further than in UT99, so it makes sense and feels right to me.
I literally spent about 2 hours working out correct scaling before starting proper :)
Started on the changes tonight, gonna take longer than expected as lots to do still. And I want to try to add sky back where it should be.
Be at least a week or 2 I think as I don't have a lot of time being xmas :)

CreepyD, I really love your remake. the Only problem i Have is the pools of sluge. The original had pools of lava. i think you should change them to lava to give it that original look.

Please please don't over-mesh this.. I am all for a bit of added geometric detail, but I prefer the simplicity of the maps of UT in some ways... so it's all about finding that sweet spot imo. The main thing you should focus on is lighting and creating normal maps for the bricks, just get a little more ambience in there and it should be perfect.. right now it just looks a little too flat.

Hey very nice remake. My only comments are the lighting, which you probably already know and maybe increase the dark floor tile size a tad (maybe get away with upto 2). To me they look a little small....but that's just me
