Hi all, I am a bit frustrated with my PS3 UT3 experience, not enough
to sell the game, but do have some request for bug fixes
1)
M/K support is limited, and not documented to that fact anywhere.
USB slot 2 cannot be used, so don't attempt to plug a keyboard
in USB slot 1 and mouse into USB slot 2
(you must use bluetooth m/k or wireless m/k that occupies only USB slot 1)
2)
control, ****, and alt keys cannot be mapped (maybe others, but these
cannot)
3) maybe this is not a bug, but more of a nice to have
is is possible to give the ability to map mouse button 3 to a
button on the mouse other than the scroll wheel button,
the wheel button is useless IMHO
thanks epic, can you respond letting us know if these issue will at least be looked at.

If you have a wireless set, it doesn't have to be in slot 1 but I understand what you're saying.
Also, without meaning to be a broken record, adding the ability to dodge with the keyboard the same way the PC version does it would be nice. And, midway's Warefare servers only play Avalanche..over and over and over

yes, your are correct, I guess i should state
only ONE usb port can be used,
but the game advertises
mouse and keyboard support, so i would think the vast majority
would expect to plug in a usb keyboard and a USB mouse into
2 of 4 slots and be able to play, (but it is broken)

This is really stupid. Im not going to buy a blue tooth set just because of this. This must be fixed?
Also stupid that you cant double tap to doge,, because using a keyboard and a mouse should be equivalent to the pc version and such differences should not be present.
This game is really rushed and unfinished. I hope a patch is released soon.

My bluetooth headset doesn't work any better.
They should also fix it so that it actually puts players you've played with on the PSN's "Players Met" list.

I'm using a mouse in USB slot one and a keyboard in USB slot two and it works fine. Is this what you mean? or you just can't use a mouse in anything else but slot 1?

whoa, hold the phone, are you sure you can get both to work?
you have mouse in PS3 USB slot 1
and keyboard in PS3 USB slot 2?
what make and model of each are you using
there have been many posts about this
and all state it does not work, this would be a fist
give me the details?

I've personally used two Microsoft mice (Intellimouse & a Sidewinder) and a G15 Logitech keyboard at once. I can't say I remember which USB port I was plugging them into, but it most certainly worked fine last night.
I'm a little more disappointed with the lack of people online and how few dedicated servers there are. The frame rate is also going to be something to get used to coming from the PC version of UT2004 that was always running at a very quick frame rate on pretty much any PC you ran it on.
Plus, like Sector said, the lack of any dodging on the PS3 version is a real let down. I can understand how that might be a bit tricky on a controller, but it should be an in-game option. If they're worried about it giving mouse & keyboard users any more advantage over controller players, then they should make it an option just like controller people can choose to block mouse & keyboard players from online games now.

I'm using a logitech G5 laser mouse in USB port 1 and an Apple Mac keyboard in USB 2 and they work fine. I have the 60 gig model of PS3. The mac keyboard isn't the latest one it came with my Mac pro in March. However I can't bind using the ctrl keys, but I heard this was an issue.

1) I have a usb keyboard in slot 1 (dynex $20 keyboard from best buy), and a logitech G5 usb mouse in slot 2. Both work fine. Both are corded. Personally I can't stand the delay with wireless.
2) I never use ctrl or alt, but shift I normally used for crouching. The first thing Epic needs to do is allow keyboard players to crouch manually ;) and to bind it to a key... then they can fix the shift binding. The former is more important right now.
3) mouse button 3 is always the scroll mouse button. I think what you want is the ability to map the 1,2 or 3 thumb buttons, which would be mouse buttons 4, 5 and 6. Yes, another thing that needs to be added. The real question is whether the PS3 handles it, not just whether Epic didn't account for it.

You can dodge left or right by jumping while moving left or right. You can double jump still. You can't dodge forwards or backwards. I'm not sure if you can wall jump. (Never realized you could in the PC version until I saw someone show a video of it).

maybe i just don't have the right combo of
mouse and keyboard, whcih means I have to go buy it.
dang, I would think this would be pretty universal
since USB keyboards and mouse probably all send
protocol, sheesh
epic, can you please fix the mapping for keyboard keys
like (control, shift, and ALT)
and lets us know if it is even a possibilty to map
mouse buttons 4-5

You're right, but that is actually already there. When you are looking for a game, you can filter it for rooms that are KB-only, Controller-only, or both are allowed. There's no real reason not to allow all the PC's functionality for the KB players. I think it comes down to the fact that both control schemes are on at the same time. When you use a KB/M on the PS3 version, the controller has to be on and it's ready to use at any time.
upL8N8, you can wall jump with the PS3 version too.

ok, after getting a new k/m, the irocks super man one, it now works
One thing I have noticed is It will not work with a ps2 keyboard that has
a ps2 to usb adapter on it. Now If I could just the control, shift and alt
keys mapped
also, anyone know or have issues with mouse play in PS3 and suddenly
point straight up or down, of course this happens right in the middle of combat and is totally disorienting. does this happening to anyone else,
maybe the book I have the mouse on has a pattern that can cause this,
not sure, but it never happens to me in other versions of UT on the PC
thanks

One thing to remember is your M+KB functions are limited by the PS3 first then by any of input options in UT3.
I have a Logitech LX710 combo and most of the KB functions simply don't work due to the PS3 limited KB support on most buttons. Not a big deal for my mouse since it just has the basic 3 button controls but those w/ extra buttons might not have support for it.
also, anyone know or have issues with mouse play in PS3 and suddenly
point straight up or down,
Mouse tracking whether optical or laser will sometimes get "jerky" because of the playing surface (loses tracking) or from lag (video and/or server).
I think it comes down to the fact that both control schemes are on at the same time. When you use a KB/M on the PS3 version, the controller has to be on and it's ready to use at any time.
Exactly and thus why some options like dodge and wall dodge are the same scheme on both.
The first thing Epic needs to do is allow keyboard players to crouch manually and to bind it to a key...
No manual crouching is a game limitation and is automatically done in certain areas (prob a similar method like GoW) but on the KB you can use "C" for some crouch-like movement for the flying vehicles and hoverboard.

WTF? I have my G5 in slot 1 and my Logitech keyboard in slot 2, and both work fine. (Both are wired USB.)
I also have mouse 1 for primary fire, mouse 2 for alt. fire, mouse 3 for switch to best weapon, and the scroll wheel for prev/next weapon. dodging/wall dodging works just like it does on the controller (move and jump in that direction) and "C" is used to bring down vehicles like the Fury.
I've had no problems with M/KB.
Edit: though yes, it would be nice to map the extra thumb buttons, and the left/right scroll wheel tilt buttons.
I use all my USB ports on my PS3, never had this issue of USB port 2 not working!
The only issues I had with PS3 Ver, is no Dodge(Im not sure if this is a bug on keyboard or meant that way) another thing is the mouse lag!!! its too much I cant aim with sniper!
Hope they give keyboard players Full Dodge! & reduce all that insane mouse lag!!
Epic, Patch it plz

Disable mouse smoothing. And you should be able to dodge by emulating what you would do on the DualShock 3/Sixaxis.

you would think that suck a perfect game would have ended up being perfect, but i guess we'll just hav to wait for patches, seeing as epic dishes out those like nobody's business.

i found that my keyboard just flashes incessantly if you have a ps2 keyboard with the ps2 to usb adapter, so anyone interested, just use a true usb keyboard
One thing that really bugs me is no mapping for control, shift, and alt keys
and the sudden spinning of mouse striaght up or down, major disorienting, i have been playing ut, ut 2, 04, HL, and HL2 on pc for years and never had this issue, I think
it is more a ps3 or ut3 for PS3 issue. i will turn off mouse smoothing to see if it stops
but the mouse and keyboard are pretty decent, it was ahppening on my wireless mouse and keyboard also.
