1080p upscaling on PS3 confirmed! [Archive]

If you want to play 1080p you will have to go to display options on your ps3 and disable the 720p and 1080i options. This will upconvert the game to play in 1080p. It is the same way you had to do to upscale as in COD4.

any negatives to this? are we gonna have to switch it back if we play other games? how much will FPS go down?

I think 1080p is upscaled by the PS3s upscaler, which is being used (more) in new(er) games. So it shouldn't have any impact on the FPS since it isn't running it in native 1080p (like GT5 does).

but does anyone kno if i would have to downscale it again if i wanted to play older PS3 games?

No, its just like when you play a 1080p native game and then switch back to a 720p game. The PS3 switches the input manually.

now should i go for normal 720p or upscaling? if only i had 2 tvs ands ps3s so i could compare side by side

If you have a 1080p tv, it will automatically upscale to 1080p. I didnt have to delete 720p or 1080i settings in order for the game to fill up the entire screen

No way... An HDMI cable is a HDMI cable.. a 3$ one will be just fine! Go check monoprice.com and buy any 8ft hdmi cable.. Please don't be scammed by monster cable
