Changes since beta:


Replaced Teleporters by Jumppads.
Fixed Jumppad pain jump.
Added blocking volume behind towers.
Replaced Nemesis by Viper.
Replaced Manta by Scavenger.
Removed Scavenger in middle.
Replaced Sniper from left side WL by Shock.
Added bForceMipStreaming=True to all Mesh.
Moved Sniper in middle WL.
Removed collision on WL pads.
Terrain polishing.
Removed right side shortcut.
PP scene effect added.
Added 50-Armor near Raptor tower.
Added Ambient sounds.
Changed texture scaling on rocks, added new objects.


Where is the map preview?
Open the INI file that comes with the package, and change the line for:
PreviewImageMarkup=<Images:VCTF-Slax][.Screenshot1>

Damn this map is sexy fun! Well done on fixing all the problems this is a very respectable VCTF map. All the little tweaks from the beta make a big difference.

I tried playing with a snow effect a bit but it would have delayed the release date trying to get this snow particle effect working the way I wanted it to.

This is map is very good thought out. One of the very best custom maps till now.
Played it against 11 bots (6v6) yesterday and the game-flow was really good: No eternal stalemate; bot teams scoring often and 'randomly' (without some hidden pattern). Heated battles occuring all over the map (no 'lost' places which see never action).
Give the map an own pic in the menu and it will be perfect.

I really like the map, its small but works great, and my FPS is brilliant on it.

My only complaint would be the rocky parts around the flag. behind the flag Near the jump pads i kept getting stuck on one part of the rocks because of the gap between the hill and the rock, id end up having to go round to get onto the pad. the other issue was infront of the flag where you can jump down from the rocks, if you go up there you'll notice that theres a sort of invisible wall on the left (if you are facing away from the flag), i didnt test if this was the same on both sides of the map, i assume it is but just incase, I was on the red team. if im not making sense, sorry, ill take pics of the area i mean if you want.

Overall i love the map, esspecially the jump pads that launch you half way towards the other teams base, Great fun switching to hoverboard while mid air. And the level seems the make the hellbender alot more fun and usefull:D

I tested it yesterday online, that's a good map for around 8-10 players however there is 2 things missing:
-Sounds ! (when someone capture the flag, it doesn't say "Blue flag taken,....". It looks like a "muted" map .
(to do so: View->World Properties-> WorldInfo->MyMapInfo->UTMapInfo->MapMusic_Info, then select an UTMusic in "A_Music_Arrangements" package, this will set music for the map and all sounds for VCTF gametype.
-Minimap: View->World Properties-> WorldInfo->MyMapInfo->MiniMap

Also another problem is the health pack above the armor shield, i don't understand the point of putting a normal health pack since you need to shieldjump in order to reach it, would be better a big health pack (199 hp).

Once this will be done your map will be perfect!

Please update this map with a menu pic, it's little details like this that break the deal for me and quite a few others. Also you copied the ugly flaw of the original Slax, that being how the terrain texture at the very centre of the map both doesnt allign, and overlaps and flickers along the join.

I will update the level today and remove the wind sound that is repetitively annoying. And link the screenshot that I didn't correctly linked in the INI. I'd like to add music to the level, but my WorldInfo actor got screwed up when I clicked on "Clear all text" and no matter when I try to copy my level and bring it into a new one the editor will crash. I also have a issue with Cross-Package references. Meaning that all the custom materials that I added to some meshes are really capricious.

In resume, the source file had a kick in the butt. However the map has no problem what so ever when playing it.

I hardly think you can go under the terrain, unless you type "Ghost". But please let me know if one of you find a issue.

I'm afraid to say there's only 2 things that I can fix. I've been messing around the source file for a good part of the morning until now and I'm sick of all the issues I ran to. One after another It's almost impossible to set music, set the default player count and minimap. All because my WorldInfo actor is f'ed up and there's no way that I can Export/Paste this correctly into a new level to get a clean WorldInfo. Epic should remove that stupid button I clicked.

Sorry, but my source file is really messed up.
So instead of uploading the map just for 2 fix, I'll tell you how to fix the screenshot manually. (really easy)

Open the INI file that comes with the package, and change the line for:
PreviewImageMarkup=<Images:VCTF-Slax][.Screenshot1>

by the way, version of a map with a falling snow will be really cool... it there anyway to get the snow in this map, maybee you can compile it with snow effect and send it ti me? i know you dont get the effect you want for snow but any snow will be cool to see. i dont know how can i pay for it, by the way, i have some archives with various metal music, and can search for something to you... lol i really dont know to pay for this request either) sorry for bad english, im russian)

I agree that some falling snow would add a lot to the atmosphere .. maybe you can do something like in Sandstorm ... just make this a snow storm that erupts from time to time. That would really be cool if not on the map then definitely try this for the next snowy map. I think it would be awesome to get caught in a blizzard. Thanks for the instructions ... I was able to get that preview pic to come up so cool. I'll be playing this tomorrow.

Congratulations on this being the first user created VCTF map to be cooked for the PS3 users, it is truly an exceptional level and you definitely deserved to have it shared with others. A very pro job ... what we have come to expect from you, and your next map looks even better. :)

Is this mod is also for PS3 version? if so, how do i install it on the ps3?

the other mods I've downloaded where just needed to copy to the memstick, and that's it. also, the type of the files in this mod and on those are running on my ps3 are different.

i've tried unpacking this release to the root of the memory card and also tried using other release root (which worked for me and which is on the link you gave me) and without any success.

can someone put proper instructions in here?

It would be cool if it had a map, and as a finishing touch a description would be nice too. But a V-CTF where the bots don't turtle is a welcome change.

If you're getting a version with an .ini file and two other files, that's the version of the map for computer. I'm pretty sure this is the link for the PS3 version. Hope it works for you.

I have a PS3 and have been playing your map, which I find is VERY fun :D! Thank you for making it. I enjoy patrolling the spawn points to run people over! *evil grin~! I especially like how you mixed such variety into a rather small map size. Your use of jump pads to move from the turret to the flag is not only strategic but fun. I also like flying to the body armor before going for the flag, since you can park up there and not give the other team a free vehicle to kill you with. Having to search for a few of the vehicles and turrets is also nice

Here's my problem though.

When playing, the turrets fire rectangular blue objects with little white circles in the middle. The viper fires two log looking cyclinders that seem connected with an orange dot. Finally the rapter has a flat, non-3d flash bang type of graphic at the base of the vechile as you fire the primary weapon. Oddly enough, the actual shots are rendering normallly. Also when I play maps that came with the game I do not have the same problem, so it's a map specific problem. I'm not using any mutators and haven't downloaded the auto shields mutator.

Is this a planned change in the map for the PS3, to save on FPS? Is anyone else having my same graphic problems?

I've tried downloading again and re-installing, which should eliminate any potental file corruption problem... right? I have the 60 GB version with the game installed to the HD. All the other custom maps for the PS3 have installed and run without errors. The latest PS3 update I have is the one that came with UT3. Thanks for any feedback you guys might be able to give me.

Itīs a nice map and i would run it at our server, but the map makes a lot of trouble (http://utforums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=603700 with sound and "package not found download was already attempted". Epic wrote that the maps need to be recooked with patch 1.1 or higher. Is it possible that you recook the map with Patch v1.2?

Can you tell me which VCTF usermaps you are running without any problems, because when one is not correct working, you can get the faults on any other map also.

Hey, just wanted to say I love this map.

I have a couple questions though: I've noticed that there is no minimap, and no capping/killing sounds (I guess they're called Stingers).

Do you have any interest in adding these to a newer version of the map? I could try and help if you want to. If not, that's cool. :)

It's been almost a year since the PS3 Mod Tools were released and this cooking error w/ some of the vehicles is still not fixed or even mentioned on mod authoring site...:(

Hard to enjoy some of these great custom WAR/VCTF maps for the PS3 when you have black boxes from manta fire or black "X's" from viper fire flying all around.

BTW this problem also extends to the DarkWalker (gunner fire) and Scorpion (primary fire).

Well, I guess if the thread has been bumped then it's OK for me to post my comments here for this one:

open VCTF in a snowy mountainous area with decent gameplay and decent AVA; ooooooooooooo..........hoverboard! Yes, this was my first UT3 VCTF and I have tried a few more stock and custom maps since then.:) Also, I noticed the bots were pretty good as well.
