Hey all, so I've finally got round to making the final version of the map.

differences from the beta are:
- better Bot AI, they will snipe and defend in certain positions
- better light, while still dark, not too dark.
- no floating pillars :p
- preview picture
- Twice as good so download it!!

I love impasse one of ym fav ut2004 maps! looks a bit small thou..

The map is small, but then again CTF maps dont have to be big and complex. This is a solid map, I played some bots in it with IG and it was pretty fun.

Is it possible you could make a version with RL? I know I can use the 'Weapon replacement' mutator for that, but than everyone only has 7(?) rockets without the possibility to pick up any ammo.

I ask this, because with instagib getting killed and killing others is much less exciting. One shot kills are a bit cheap and reduce the hunter/prey adrenaline rush.

Why is it 50 times darker than the original :(Have you actually played the map? The screenshot is rediculous, the map is nowhere near as dark when you play it.

with regards to the RL, would a weapon locker suffice?

The style of the map is very different to the original, the setting of the map is at night, so is the lighting is darker.

About what iycgtptyarvg said, the map is a lot brighter with certain settings, I think world detail at 2 or lower makes everything a lot brighter.

I'll see if I can add a poll to ask if it's too dark.

Regarding the darkness, it could be a tad lighter for me (I play at max settings), but I voted 'All is well'.

don't mean to be disrespectful or anything, but are you OJ under a new name, or did you ask the original author for permission to do a remake? CTF-Impasse is such a classic, and i'd love to play it, but i don't see ReadMe's anymore, and i think all people doing remakes should include them and say that they got permission or did their damnedest to get it.

by the way, the origional was iG only :)

Hey hawkwind, before I put the map for any kind of download I downloaded the original myself to see if I could contact the author. I couldn't however in the beta thread I did state that this was a re-make and I hadn't contacted the original mapper.

The version of Impasse 2k4 I own is made by Toadstool.

anyway, i'm sure my droogs will enjoy playing Impasse again, since we played it MANY times :D

when taking screen shots, and posting them in forums, you need to up the brightness first, then readjust the contrast upwards, otherwise, it will appear too dark

Nice job. Had a blast playin this last night. It is smaller but the way characters move in UT3, its still good.
Good to see some remakes showing up with facelifts :)

I am a huge fan of instagib so i don't really mind just that, but addressing an earlier comment...If you use weapon replacement the game replaces the ammo as well (or at least it sure as heck seems like it because i play sniper only a good bit against bots) so I don't know what the issue is there.
