Description:
Remotely hidden in a mountain range, this former Axon repair facility has become a testing ground for Liandri's portal technology.
Recommended players: 8-12
Comments:
I got the preview pic to work, same as player count and music. This map is a blast with 16 opponents, but keep it 8-12 if you feel overwhelmed. It's a mix of large outdoor spaces ( like the facility main yard, where the main action will mostly take place ) and smaller areas ( like the Bio Rifle and Link Gun zone ).
What's the catch? There are several portal points that link everything together, so you never know where someone will warp out and shoot at you.
Great map for InstaGib too, if you're into it.
Installation:
Just extract the DM-Bowl.rar archive to your My Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\Published\CookedPC\CustomMaps\ folder. If it doesn't exist, create it. The game menu will now see the map.

Just played it and it was really good only thing that bothered me was to many teleporters going to the same place.
but thats just me being picky

I really like the idea behind it. I also enjoy the multiple teleporters, gives you the ability to go through one, without total bottle-necks everywhere.

Hey FIgterFX, here's how to do it:
Installation:
Just extract the DM-Bowl.rar archive to your My Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\Published\CookedPC\CustomMaps\ folder. If it doesn't exist, create it. The game menu will now see the map.
You probably only have an "Unpublished" folder, what you need to do is create the Published folder as I've written here.

I do think the position of the Sniper should be changed, just doesn't feel like a good spot for a sniper pickup in that tiny corridor.
and is there a reason why the monitor or w.e it is behind the sniper isn't centered on the wall, it looks wrong.
thats all I can find wrong with the map and its just personal preference really. GJ

I placed the Sniper Rifle there because it's two feet away from the teleporter which takes you into the factory yard, where you can use it to full extent. Also, it's a less walked path than pretty much the whole rest of the map.
That monitor is not centered cause I didn't want it to be centered :p I think it's such a cliche to always have them centered. Is your monitor centered on your desk in real life? :) Mine sure isn't. Thanks again for playing, STIG.

Great map! There is an issue with it although. Please see: this post (http://forums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=589030). Basically when someone does not have the quality settings set to maximum (like me) then it looks like someone drew it with a crayon. Even though if you make the changes detailed in that post it will look awesome! Hope you update it!

Just went through it with some bots and I have to say, the fine detailing is just fantastic. I like the broken bits of machinery and concrete you scattered around the place just to make it look like a wartorn battlefield, but my only issue is that the teleporters are free floating, which makes it terribly easy to telefrag when there are a number of people in the map. I really love the teleportation idea though. Perhaps if they were more like those in Gateway...

Great map, I enjoy it. If only online servers picked up custom maps, but it seems like they might wait a little bit.

Regarding the low-detail error, I'll update this map with the fix, as soon as possible. Just that today is a busy day. Be on the lookout for version 1.1. Not everyone has a nuclear powerplant in their PCs, it's true. :) I remember playing the Crysis demo... headaches.

Enjoyable map. One smallish problem is that you can easily camp the RL. Please move the RL ammo as far as possible away from the RL.
What I really like is that the HK is behind the wall, and you can't see whether it's there without jumping the gap. Especially the fact there is debris you can get stuck on.
Edit:
I've played it a bit more now. I would prefer it if you release a version without the teleporters. Maybe you could have the underground/inside area behind the RL, so the RL would become a central square. I think that would open up the map a lot. Now, all my fights are where the RL is, or in the area between the RL and the FC.

Very nice. I’m glad to see some open maps, because there good for 1vs1 and getting down to business and this looks like a lot of fun . I participle like the graphics on the car and only comment for more of it, but where appropriate and not over done. Then again the whole map might not look bad like that. HaHa. What about a setting from mild to wild.

is it possible to install these in the same location where I installed the game?
I'll probably have over 2 gig's worth of custom maps downloaded before then end of january and I only have 1.5 gigs of free space on my windows drive.
However, I have over 400 gigs of free space on the drive where I installed UT3.

- I can't release it without teleporters because that is the very basis of this map. The most battles are supposed to be between the Rocket Launcher and the Flak Cannon. The idea is you either risk going in that area and blast around, or stay safe in other zones, but lose frag points in the map ranking. Personally, I grab a suit of armor and head straight into the central courtyard, rockets blazing.

Not only does this map look great going by the pictures.... i cannot understand how your screen shots are so CLEAN looking.... hope it comes on over to PS3 one day.... sounds, looks, great....

I emailed Frespace, he told me that he lost all interest in UT3, but if I wanted to get it cooked for PS3 I was welcome to do so. I asked euchreplayer23, he had the time and did the cook. edit: is it just me or is this map supposed to jump between blurry and detailed textures...the walls and broke apart vehicles are all blurry...and then become nicely detailed as i get closer...my settings are cranked up...whats wrong? if its not just me can someone tell me whats up? btw I love the design. it looks really fun i just wish it wasn't all fuzzy for me
