capturing video from material ed

Does anybody know of any tools that will allow me to do this I want to keep records on the animated materials I create I would like to do this by keeping small sample videos. It would also be useful for creating flythroughs of maps and turnarounds of static meshes

I'm pretty sure Fraps can record viewports.

I have tried Fraps but I get a semi transparent flashing white box over the viewport
