Compatibility: UT3
Description: Race with Hellbenders^^
Comments:
- Not great gameplay, VERY small map for testing.
- NO bots supported.
- During overtime attackercore drains faster than defendercore (happens when attackers failed on taking all notes).
- Objectives can only be completed while driving a hellbender. UPDATE: Only worked in editormode. Now you may also complete the objectives on foot.
- Contains many dirty workarounds (see Kismet).

Is that a problem? The map isn't showing up.

Yes, you have to put it in Published or it will not show up.

if you don't have the directory, create it.
if you use the "unpublished" folder, use the "-useunpublished" command. Otherwise UT will ignore the map.

Well I've had a go at it. The triggers don't seem to work. I've driven hellbenders over them on both teams. Also, blue team can attack the red core.

Besides, racing with the Scorpions would be more fun imo :p

Awesome, I am hosting all trials/racing maps on my server.

can someone make trials/racing its own gametype?

Thats what killed assault for me in 2k4. Barely any popular Assault standard gametype servers, most had a mixed in a lot of race or trials maps.


NOt to take this thread off topic. Racing can be fun. Its just too different from teh standard WAR for it not to have its own separate gametype.

kinda disappointing to be completely honest..

Its great that the community of racing assault really wants to remake the old maps or make new race maps but lets keep in mind.. the major problem with the race maps was that they where so plane no color to them very simple brushes connecting each objective..

Would be really nice to see the racing community of mappers like myself.. to push there limits in there knowledge of the editor and really put work into race maps(add more detail, static meshes, actual lighting not this sissy zone lighting..) then mabey we can get more people to like them.

Just a suggestion.. and my look on things.

But besides that nice attempt on trying to make a obj based map. I'm kinda curious as to how you did the kismet so ill take a look at it and see how bad you did :)

Since you're kicking off the Race thing you have the unique opportunity to do everyone (Race fans and Race haters alike) the enormous favor of placing this in a gametype of its own. If you need any help doing so, just say so.

you are absolutly right! a race-gametype is by far the best solution. i just wanted to try what's possible using only kismet und given gametypes; and for that i just needed some bsp, no hd-graphics. Btw, it's beta :p

lol kinda jumped the gun on yah on the map soz.. but either way I looked at the kismet and defently looks interesting but is adding the cores to map really necessary?

Just my way of looking at things is that we can do most of the old assault race maps and new race maps into vctf and it would work just fine without having to bring back assault code into ut3.. but it would be nice in a way to have the custom gametype back..

I took Warfare because of its objective-based gametype and Warfare without cores doesn't work.

Good start! I'm really looking forward to being able to play race maps in UT3.
Trial and race maps are what really made 2004 the most fun for me, far more fun than boring old "throw your entire team at the objective on foot to get 0.03 more seconds worth of it until it's complete" regular assault.
