Or is it still possible to install them in the ut3 directory?

I don't like it when I have install these sorts of things in My Documents

edit: also for characters?

I have to agree with you here, however on second thoughts it would be good to note just how easy it will be this way to back up all the mods and maps you've accumulated over time without having to keep a copy of all the base UT files like in previous iterations of the game.

While I'm in favour of keeping the personal files separate from the game files, I have to stick by poodoas here and ask if it could be placed in a folder that's not the Documents folder.

Put it in the same folder branch, but under the "All Users" account folder instead of the "[your user name]" folder. That should keep the folders out of your way and let everyone who uses the machine play with the same set of maps.

It doesn't work....you cannot play from the editor and when you rebuild you get errors......

Ah well. Never mind; it was just a thought.
Though perhaps there is some sort of ini setting that would help with this; there was in UT2K4: If you added another directory to the "maps" location in the ini, it would pick them up fine. It's where I put all my beta downloads....
