How can I export character skins to be worked on? I got some message about not being able to export cooked..something.
'cooked' content appears to be 'read-only', which is great for publishing and protecting your content as it makes it 'impossible' to edit them.
I guess we will have to wait until Epic releases examples or some kind of resource.
I also have the impression that we can't do skins anymore even if we wanted to as everything appears to be character-model-based ...
It's more likely that we'll see custom-addons like new shoulderpads, helmets, etc. instead of simple skins.

Thats what I was beginning to think myself about cooked content being untouchable. That really sucks for noob editors like myself that just want to touch up an existing character.
This may well be a true bummer for skin designers:(

Its not that here read this link
http://forums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=585462
you can copy out textures to your harddrive with it and then import them back to the generic browser.
heres an exsample
Because that post is very vague
Load CH_IronGuard_Male.upk in generic browser
goto log window type this
obj savepackage package="CH_IronGuard_Male" file="CH_IronGuard_Male.upk"
when you go back to your CH_IronGuard_Male.upk in generic Browser you can right click on textures and export them as tga
After your done
goto this directory and look for the dump file called CH_IronGuard_Male.upk
C:\Program Files (x86)\Unreal Tournament 3\Binaries
and delete it
if you dont it will cause some issues later
Word of advice to noobs
goto
C:\Program Files (x86)\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\CookedPC
right click on the folders characters and make it read only.
This way you dont shoot yourself in the face as you experiment with the workflow
