I am sorry....... The error that I get says :
'Error:Error Deleting File F:\\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\Binaries\..\UT Game\Autosaves\Save.Temp' (GetLastError:3)
Warning
Error Opening File 'D:\Program Files\Unreal Tournament 3\Binaries\..\UT Game\Autosaves\Save.temp' (D:\Program Files\Unreal Tournament 3\Binaries\)

This has kept me from saving or playing the levels I am trying to start. Please help me understand how to fix this.......

Thanks!

I'm having the same problem.

Lemme see as far as info I can provide...

I'm running
AMD 3800 X2
3 GB RAM
X1900 GT
WINXP MEDIA CENTER

I have some trouble with my system folders being constantly set to read only, though according to the research I've done, it's common. I've had problems with ut3 constantly asking for a cd key but was fixed by adding a "-nohomedir" tag at the end of the launcher. I've tried a reinstall to no avail.

This is a post I made elsewhere but can't find it just now. :(
This seems to be working for me quite well, but I can't say for sure this is the best or only way to do this.

-----------

Okay. One cannot edit a retail map by simply starting the UED3 editor and opening, say, WAR-Torlan.ut3 (which is found in the following folder: "..\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\CookedPC\Maps\"). This will not work for several reasons. The main reason is that the map is optimized for players to load which cannot be edited.

This optimization is called "cooking a map."

So how does one "un-cook" a map?
Four steps gets it done. I'll use WAR-Torlan.ut3 as an example.

Step 1.
Copy the map.
Fire up Explorer and copy from \Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\CookedPC\Maps\WAR-Torlan.ut3
to \My Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\Unpublished\CookedPC\CustomMaps\WAR-Torlan.ut3
If these folders do no exist on your My Documents, create them.

Step 2.
Rename the map.
Make it a unique name so it shows up in the UT3 in game browser. For example, WAR-Torlan-Test.ut3 is what I used.

Step 3.
Build the map.
Start UED3, open WAR-Torlan-Test.ut3 and do a "build all" (e.g., on the menu bar, "Build > Build All"). This takes about 8-10 minutes on a quadcore, so be patient.

Step 4.
Cook the map.
There is no menu option for this only an icon. Click on the orange flame icon on the far right of the icon menu bar. UED3 will ask if you want to save the packages and be sure to click "YES". This process will take a few minutes as well.

Once you have completed the cook process, all associations with the original Torlan map are gone. Edit the map in \My Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\Unpublished\CookedPC\CustomMaps\ from now on.

The folder \My Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\Published\CookedPC\CustomMaps\ will contain the playable WAR-Torlan-Test.ut3. This is what will show up in the UT3 map browser in game. You can distribute this file to others but be sure to include both the WAR-Torlan-Test.ini and the WAR-Torlan-Test_LOC_int.upk files.

Ok... I guess I'm getting the same error then, but am having a different problem...

I'm just trying to test a new map. An old one. It doesn't matter. Any map. When I try to do a test run it gives me that error

Error:Error Deleting File F:\\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\Binaries\..\UT Game\Autosaves\Save.Temp' (GetLastError:3)
Warning
Error Opening File 'D:\Program Files\Unreal Tournament 3\Binaries\..\UT Game\Autosaves\Save.temp' (D:\Program Files\Unreal Tournament 3\Binaries\)

Do I have to cook the map before testing?
