I have used Lightwave for the past few years but never for gaming or anything like that. ActiveX seems to be the export tool to use for UT3 but according to Epics site its only usable for 3DSM, XSI and Maya. Does anyone now if there is a Lightwave port for it?

As far as i can remember lightwave supports exporting of static meshes natively but needs a plugin for animation, Quick google search found this :

Do you have the game in hand? In the editor there should be an option for COLLADA import, doesn't lightwave have that or at least a plugin for it? It's even worse documented than the usual way, but it might be another good shot.
I can't so for sure beCAUSE IM STILTNHOTHAG ETTING IT TIL TONIGHT...

Sorry, Not got UT3 yet (still awaiting my delivery) but i think the engine may still support LWO for static meshes .. Maybe somebody WITH unreal can point you in the right direction ?

Looking at it now. For 3d formats there's only t3d and .ase formats possible alongside the regular .psk.
And the aforementioned Collada file type, which comes as .dae.

Does the editor still support PSK and PSA for animation/mesh imports? .. if so lightwave still might need the third party plugin!

Yes that it does so the plugin might work. But I worry that it's from 2001 and talks about UT v436 whereas the collada code is this-gen. But then that just might be me wanting to see a new toy in action. :)

The only thing i can suggest re: the out of date plugin, Is to give a it whirl and see if it works ... although like you say with it being old theirs a good chance that it wont. I feel your pain over the new toy, Just like me waiting for UT3 to drop through my letterbox :(

I've been looking for the same thing (LW to UTed) and I finally did a search for Collada... and here yea go: http://www.nomuraz.com/lwcollada/ it's a free plugin no guarantee it'll work, but I'm sure going to try it, hope this helps.
[Edit]:: From what I looked at after posting... is that it's a pretty poor exporter, there's another one, but you have to build it yourself (compile code) which is here (http://nebuladevice.cubik.org/documentation/nebula2/group__N2Exp4LWContribModule.shtml), I'll keep on looking for better alternatives and post them here.
