1. Cant See Server In Browser
2. Failed to register with online service registering as lan service

Well this is frustrating to say the least. Game rental companies cant get the server software to work correctly nor can end users. This is getting old real quick sorry this is not a rant but a fact. IMHO game server software should not be this difficult to get up and running thats for sure. Cant get Epic help us out. No spacific setup Documentaion for multihome servers setup. Its just frustrating. I think Im just gonna ask my 2 game providers to give me a refund and say the hell with running UT3 server.

It just seems to me that if the game rental companies are having so much trouble setting up a UT3 server I can just imagine how and end user must be going thru right now.

Its just to much of a hassle!

Good luck all...........you'll need it! ;)

Funny, I got no problems at all, and buth my servers show up on the server browser...

I am adding a vCTF today, that will make 3 successful UT 3 dedicated server installs on a colocation box for me :D

I think we all feel your pain.

I have run UT99, 2k3 and 2k4 servers and had little trouble getting them going behind a router. I am a Information Technology Support supervisor with a client base of 13,000 customers. I have PC and Macintosh certifications, plus I have an bachelors degree in electronic engineering.

I've spent hours trying to get my server to show up and allow connections. I've been through just about every suggestion and piece of experience I can muster with little progress.

Even with all my experience and know how, running a UT3 server behind a router is very problematic. A few can get it to work, but if was plug and play, we should have many hundreds of servers up, yet there are not.

Personally I wish they would of waited until 2008 to release it, so it was a more polished product. Sigh......

Yes, my thoughts exactly!

The patch should make this all much better. Its in testing now.

I also have 8 years of UT server experience, 7 years of network engineering experience, and while I had little problem getting my servers to "work correctly" i do admit that UT3 has been the most difficult release to figure out thus far. Of course i have public IPs right on my servers so I'm not dealing with NAT issues, which seem to be the very large bulk of the problems. This upcoming patch contains a magic pill which should make NAT problems much less painful.

I know you guys are feeling the pain, but please understand that there is a lot of work that is going on behind the scenes to fix these problems. Today is a holiday in the USA yet Epic was working on these very problems. Just give them a little more time and hopefully you will be pleased.

I've heard that before. Thought it was supposed to be fixed with the retail release.

Still wish they would of waited a few weeks to release it properly. But to their credit I am sure they are working and we know they are dedicated to our game......we just need to be patient.

Hey one thing about this thread - in the presence of all this experience and expertese, I can sure feel better about my difficulties in massaging my server the way I want it.

Midnight Gaming has servers that work. Easy setup, just click the options you want in the config page. We have map voting and mutators working just fine as well.

Stop wasting time with game hosts that don't have their act together and don't provide support.
