Description: This gametype changes UT3 to a top down shooter. You move the crosshair around the screen and your character always faces it while you move around. The objective is to survive against the horde of enemies for as long as you can. At first, the enemies simply charge at you with Impact Hammers. As time passes, the enemies will start using different weapons and some larger, stronger, faster "boss" characters will appear. Over time or when enemies are killed, various weapons and powerups will appear. These include most of UT's normal powerups, including new Speed Boots and Regeneration.

You can play by yourself or co-op with others. The game tracks the top ten scores on each level at each difficulty.

this is alot of fun ^^ my best solo highscore so far 140 score, 3 min

but could you add announcements and improve crosshair cause its damn hard to find it when alot of bots are active.

I put a server up over Thanksgiving weekend (assuming it stays up, since I'll be away). The server browser doesn't work correctly for custom gametypes yet so you'll have to connect using the "open" console command: 75.177.191.35

I just got it and wow. Really fun, old-school feel. 2 things I dislike: Not being able to hit enemies on the floor when your standing at the top of stairs aiming down them and the crosshair. I understand not being able to hit ground walkers in a non-stairway area though. What do you think?

If you wouldn't mind, there are many people I'm sure who would love to add to your work-- maps, gameplay tweaks, effects, with your permission. Have you ever played Geometry Wars on the 360 or Wii? This mod would be fantastic with some fun sounds and trippy effects going off similar to that when you kill people and stuff.

Great job. More in depth bossfights would be fun too. I can definitely see people turning this into a game where the enemies approach in waves opposed to continuously-- although I love the way you have things set up now. This mod has a ton of potential, hopefully you don't mind other people adding to it.

It's really pretty simple. The camera is a maximum 1,000 units above the player and looks straight down. Enemies and players spawn at PlayerStarts, bonuses spawn at any NavigationPoint or on top of dead enemies. There aren't any gametype specific classes to place.

High score of 50 on Suspense after 2:12 is the best I got. At that point, I'm losing 50 hp/sec from a hail of enforcer rounds. As I'm running by the south wall, it looks like a scene from the Matrix with a hail of bullet impacts in a trail on the wall.

K, officially my favorite gametype.
I love top down shoot 'em ups and this one's definately a solid. Lovin the mousewheel zoom feature too.
Although I will say I'd appreciate more frequent spawning of health pickups and that at times when firing with the sniper rifle it'll fire in every direction but the one I'm aiming..
Also, extra fun with the Beserker mutator on.

Wow, this is so cool, thanks for making this!

Man, this is such an amazingly simple, yet awesome gamemode.

I want those two new powerups for a mutator (Powerups mut (would include retail powerups too)... choice to swap in and out powerups on map for others).

I can't wait to see more maps for this. And the gore and decals staying forever is a nice touch.

Found a bit of a oversight, while the player can't jump over obstacles, bots still can, namely the center walls in Suspense. Makes it pretty easy to be swarmed.

Getting back to the weapons, think you could wire in some kind of upgrade system where if you pick up the same weapon multiple times in a row you get faster firerates, more damage, etc?

This mod is tons of fun, unfortunately I can hardly find people to play this online with. Singleplayer can tend to get boring. I haven't once played co-op with this. Does anyone have servers up besides Myst's.

Yeah, i'm pissed off at the bio rifle.

that'd be cool, mulitple pickups increases fire speed, i'm for it.

Jumping would be kind of nice option to have.

It'd be nice to say have a option in the settings of it to choose for omitting certain weapons to spawn (let the bots get them, but not you), and maybe a way to have a % of the chance a weapon will spawn (like right now as said the Bio must be at 60%, i'd put Flak or Rocket at 30% each)

This mod is absolutely fantastic, but the biorifle does drag the quality down a bit. It's annoying when you get something good like the rocket launcher or chaingun and then you're forced to use the biorifle out of nowhere. A key to allow you to swap your gun for the one on the floor might be a nice idea if it's not too difficult to impliment.

Otherwise, I'm having an absolute blast with this mod and have played it co-op with a friend, and it's insane. More variants like having vehicles (A scorpion would make mincemeat out of those bots) and igib for the players is an idea too. Great work.

This is intentional, although I have considered having the enemies stumble over the barriers, both to slow them down and to make it look cooler ;)

I'll probably add some more weapons in the bio rifle spam phase eventually to mix that up a little.

In this game I found a while back, the weapons had rather sizeable icons so you could more easily decide if you wanted it or not. Of course the enemies didn't throw their weapons when they died

This is a fun gametype.. But did I miss something or does the player not keep a weapon inventory to switch weapons? I was doing great with the enforcer and stinger.. but then i picked up the sniper and the rof was too slow to keep up with the masses... i tried switching back to a better weapon but couldnt. Is this just a one-weapon game based on the last one you picked up?

You can only hold one weapon at a time. I agree that some of the weapon pickups are too dark, though.

That would be sweet, but unfortunatly the creator, Black Cat, are still (i think) working on the half life 2 version, which they've been working on for a very long time. So i don't expect them to return to UT to remake it for ut3 :(

Install question on Vista.

It wants to overwrite some of my setup folders.
Is that ok?

Path as I have it is:
C:\Users\Mike\Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\

But the readme says

How do i install it correctly?

Could someone please help me?

I would like to know to install/make this mod work.

Here is what I did:
Downloaded the Slaughterhouse.zip
Opened the file and read the Slaughterhouse_Readme.txt

What does it say?
" To install on Windows, extract the .zip file to "My Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame" "

Thats what I did. I made sure every file is on where they need to be.

I start the game normally and I dont see anything different.
Do I have to activate the mod on the console?
Where do I go to start the mod?

The game start, log in automatically and I can only see Campaign, Instant Action, etc...

I dont see the maps of the mod anywhere in the game. The mod doesnt start automatically either. Is there something I have to edit to make it run?

TOOOOTALLLY agree with sevenforce. This gametype was so refreshing to play, yet so beautifully simple. It brought geometry wars to mind, and even some classic games like Smash TV and Robotron. Those 3 games are some great places to look for inspiration as you continue working on slaughterhouse...waves/levels of enemies and fun powerups would definately bring the twitch arcade gameplay of geometry wars and robotron to UT3. I would even recommend an instagib for all weapons against the lowerlevel enemies, and maybe 2-3 hits for higher level enemies, to bring the smash TV element.

And my last unsolicited suggestion: all keyboard control (like geometry wars or grid wars for the PC). For example WASD keys control the movement of the player, while IJKL keys or 8456 on num pad control direction of fire.

As far as I was aware, when making a mod for pc you could simply press export to ps3, save it on a mem stick, or put it on the net for someone else to save to a mem stick and go off playing. I know I'm a complete newb as far as modding etc goes, but as far as interviews etc expressing the ease of making mods for ps3 was concerned, it was just a click away. Is this possible to be played on the ps3 at all, or is it just maps that ps3 players will be getting?

You will need to cook them for the PS3. The PS3 version requires everything be cooked.

Also i found a bug,i pinged it online,but all servers are normal dm.
I guess it needs fixing to only show your mod.

I think once the first patch is up (changelog of beta patches seems to show fixes for custom gamemodes) M will release another version (cause then it really will be a custom gamemode (even though it already is)), am i right or totally wrong?

The current version should already work if you have the patch installed. Of course, I doubt anybody's running servers right now even if they wanted to, since the patch isn't public yet.

I'm having so much fun with this thing, got to 95 on Shangrila, with 40 bots chasing me or so :S It's terrible to get stuck with a biorifle at that point, but I guess the randomness of the pickups is what makes it so much fun.

I'm not planning on doing any more maps; they take a lot of work and I'm not very good at it, although I would consider including someone else's maps. I am planning an update with some minor fixes/improvements.

BTW, if you have the patch looking for Slaughterhouse games in the server browser should actually work, although I doubt anybody is running one.

From the video of this I saw on the internet, you did a great job. I was so tempted last night to try and put this on my PS3, but just before I tried I read that article about modders not being able to export to PS3 yet so I'm glad I looked around 1st. Do you think you will export this to PS3 when that option becomes availible to you? That would be so nice. Although I don't know if It would work for me anyway cuz I don't know if the memory card has to be set up a certain way folder-name wise, and I don't know if I would need a PC to unzip anything first. I don't own a PC, I was just gonna download it straight from the PS3 web browser to my memory stick duo, then try importing. Would this work, or does stuff have to be unzipped with a PC first? Any help would be great for when mods DO start coming out for PS3.

This gametype needs better pathfinding AI.... those dudes just stuck at the wall instead of looking for the path...

And there should be a monster limit.... Most of the time.. I get killed by lag... XD

If those two options are in... the gametype will be perfect..=D

Way too hard. Waaaaay too hard. Each game ends after like one minute because enemies comes too fast and too many. And not to mention, there is no ability to change your current weapon.
Every time I play, I try staying away from every bio rifle that drops. But whenever an enemy drops one of them, it flies right towards me. It's like they use their last strength throwing it at me because they know IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO KILL ANYTHING WITH!
Whenever I get it, I end up running like hell from 10-20 bots. They start out like 10 when I have to start running, and they are at least 20 when I eventually die.
A few tips: Make it possible to change weapons to something we've used earlier. I prefer the enforcer much more than the Bio gun. I can actually kill things with that. Make it possible to jump. About 30% of mu deaths are caused by being surrounded by enemies (while I have the bio gun, which I get 90% of all games, getting shot at from all directions) having no means of escape. And make enemies spawn at a rate where they are actually possible to kill before new ones spawn. Ok, this is not a game that should be possible to survive forever, but we should be able to survive more than one minute.
Another thing: Please make enemies easier to hit. I don't hit them unless I aim for their head. I clearly see my bullets passing over the enemies shoulders without hitting them.
One last thing: It appears enemies have the ability to snipe at me from a part of the map where I can't see them. This is especially annoying when I'm already being chased by 15 bots while I have the bio gun, and being blasted with shock rifles, impact hammers and whatnot.

I'm gonna go uninstall this gametype now. I'll reinstall it if these things get fixed, it's a good idea though, just too many annoying things about it.

Yeah, on Suspense, you'll have bots with LinkGuns firing at you from the other side of the map, quite annoying cause the link just rapes your health in only a couple hits.

I think it's also the small size of the map that make things too difficult.
If it was a large range terrain map then maybe the chances to survive would be a lot better :P Make sure the view somewhat increases on larger maps.

You could even add vehicles to such maps, driving scorpions through the masses of monsters would sureley be fun. It would also be more fun in online games. (altough I haven't yet been able to play it online :/)

Try running slaughterhouse with CustomUT.

It becomes first person again, you have limited ammo, and you can switch weapons :)

Also, try it with with the latest BattleMod mutator with custom regeneration/health settings, I was able to get up to 945 points with it, and last nearly 10 minutes. Super Berserk helps a little too.

It really is too bad that the rocket launcher can only shoot a level path instead of impacting where your crosshair is. Splash damage is the rocket launcher's main advantage. Same goes for the Flak secondary fire.


Edit: With CustomUT and BattleMod, I've gotten a high score of 2411, and major lag at times with even the lowest visual settings, but only because of all the gibs lying around.

Only suggestion I could have is that I seem to be stuck with guns I pick up. There I am, owning faces with the flak cannon then I accidentally pick up the bio or shock rifle and get swarmed because I can't go back or even re-pick up the gun I had before =(

D4rkW4rr10r tried it out for the PS3 but it just won't display in top-down view for some reason, also the ammount of enemies on screen at once crashed his ps3. It's a real shame, as I really like the look of this mod - reminds me of Smash TV :)

I think you have to slow down the spawning of enemies. It becomes too hard very fast becuase of the spawning rate.

hey this mod kinda messed my ut3.
i downloaded the mod and tried to play it.then the game shut down
i tried to play again but all it did was do nothing.i tried alot of things.
finally i gave up and deleted ut3.i had to redownload all the mods.
I think this is good but maybe that could be a bug.it drove me crazy when my ut3 didnt work.plz fix mod and make it better
