View Full Version : I know this is a hard one...

I know this will be hard to troubleshoot, but this is what's been happening. It isn't consistent, nor reproduceable in any way that I can determine.

Every once in a while, I get a message from Windows, "UT3.EXE has stopped responding".

If there's a UT3 log file that I don't know about, that might help.

Anyway, I'm running (nothing is overclocked):

I had the same problem, but mine was a simple nvidia driver update to the driver that came out on the 6th of November. I have also heard of people having issues with SLI. I don't know if its related or not.

Yeah, I am running the video drivers from 11/6 -- maybe there's a newer one... (nope)

Also suffering the same problem, newest drivers don't fix it.

I fixed my problem, openal isn't working right with my machine so I disabled it.

I haven't tried that one. I am using a X-Fi Fatal1ty sound card.

In any event, Beta patch 1 did not do anything to fix this for me. I still get random "UT3.EXE" stopped working now and again.

(It is nice, though, to see that the game keeps your score when you reconnect after a crash -- assuming the map hasn't changed.)

I have been paying attention, and it is random. I've had it happen when:
- I've "pulled the trigger" on the shock rifle to shoot someone while having the damage amplifier.
- I've died.
- Completely out of the blue, running the flag back to my base.

Weird...

Thanks for the info, I've just had a look at that and it seems to be normal apart from a bit where it goes:

Does anyone have idea what that means or how to put it right? or even which game it refers to - is it only created if your game crashes or what?

So far, this has worked. I played for a couple of hours today without any crashing. I've not been able to play as long before a crash before.

roger that, nvidia control panel has given me this error with and without sli enabled/disabled many times.

I may like to try this - where do you disable this, and what mode is used if this has been disabled? or maybe I just do not understand ;\

I also use SLI. However, disabling OpenAL seems to have made it stop crashing.

In any event, it is in the audio section of the options, and is called Hardware OpenAL (if I recall correctly, since I don't have the game in front of me right now). So, I'm guessing that, with this OFF, it is using software OpenAL.

I turned it off, it seems to work, and my sound is just fine. I didn't notice any difference.
