View Full Version : 'Beef' - Several Game Enhancements - updated

The purpose of this mutator was originally to fix flaws with the size and eyeheight of players and as a bonus, fix some other issues and add configurable options. Since these things are now officially being addressed in a patch, that's no longer the primary goal, and has been removed. But luckily we went to town with a bunch of other stuff that we feel "beefs up" UT3 even more.

Currently implemented features:

Configurable Team skin shader distance
Configurable Spawn Protection
Tank Health Configurable (default 1000 to compensate for more aggressive Raptor)
Hellbender Scale increase & property adjustments - feels like a proper offroad vehicle instead of a radio controlled toy car!
Pointless double jump replaced with increased single jump / jumpboots adjusted to work with this system

Planned Features:

-Chain linking distance increase
-Hellbender Speed Increase (barely goes faster than the hoverboard at present)
-Manta flying height increase to remove ability to kill crouched players

Suggestions welcome. Try to keep in mind anything UI related, for example can't really be fixed in a mut.

First release is on its way.

Sounds good. : D All except the single jump which is good too. But I like my double jumps. XD

Bersy, how are you fixing the eyeheight issue? Are you just lowering eyeheight, or is it a combination of that and slightly upscaling models?

Bersy, how are you fixing the eyeheight issue? Are you just lowering eyeheight, or is it a combination of that and slightly upscaling models?Yes, a combination. :) It'll be a little bit longer, today was busy as hell with my job and other stuff.

One other thing I will try to do is make the hellbender a tad bigger, it really is pathetically small, especially if you play the DM map that has the frozen bender, you see how big the vehicle was originally supposed to be...

Again, assuming it doesn't break anything major. we'll see!

I'm just modifying existing gametypes, I'm sure someone will make LMS for you soon enough.

Interesting. I like the single jump idea.

It's probably an idea for a separate mutator but I always liked that 2004 mut that changed the flag indicator to point towards the flag and not the flag base.

Kick ass! So all these features can be added via a single mut, and will (presumably) be compatible with custom gametypes like CTF/TDM4, Jailbreak etc.?

It depends on whether those mods use a custom pawn class, if they don't, then it should work.

Aside from that - yep it's all in one mutator.

Which probably means there should be a point where we say "enough", but we can try to add a few more things..

This sounds great! Will this mutator be customizable through the mutator options or will it have to be done through the an ini? Sorry if it was a stoopid question but, i've seen some muts only tweakable through inis.

Can you implement a weapon change speed or an adjustable game speed?

You should make sure that the double-jump stays when translocator is enabled, because the second jump is very useful when making multiple translocations.

Bersy. How does this all jive with the proposed fix list coming in the first patch?
Is this scaling fix the same as what you are proposing?

I edited the original post earlier to indicate we're no longer doing player scale changes. Obviously they would conflict. Other things are already being tested for compatibility with this patch.

If you don't mind me asking, how do you intend to make the brightskins configurable? I've been trying to find something in the .inis that would subdue the horrid things, but have had no success so far.
