I understand that a door is controlled by a trigger, and a matinee in kismet, but what I need to know is how do you change the origin, or rotation point of the door mesh. And when you use the matinee in kismet, the door animates, but when I get in game, the door doesn't do anything, so I must need something else there.

make sure you made the trigger max count from 1 to 0 and settup the matinee properties relative to how you want them to work.
there was a post on here a second ago about changing the pivot..; havnt tried it myself yet though... here

I tried that method, and it does move it temporarily, but soon as you unselect the mesh, and reselect it, it goes back to the center of the object(its original pivot/origin). Maybe there is some way to lock it there permanently.

im not 100% sure what your trying to do, if you mean you play it in the editor via matinee then deslect it and its resseting. this is correct, but it wont do it ingame. (unless you reverse it)
if thats not it, try setting the movement track (right click) to world, instead of relative to initial?
