isn't it like when you see all that light coming inwards from the edges of everything, allot like the diffuse glow filter in photoshop, sorry im no very good at explaining things, i think people find it annoying because it looks kinda strange when overused and it makes it harder to see

bloom is commonly known for ATI users, its supposed to enhance ur graphics, although i think nowadays they call it SMOOTHVISION, an u can enable that in ur catalysts drivers

It's a cheap way for devs to not do HDR and in UT3 it over brightens the sky so much you can't see anything because it's a while glow. Now the consoles are more popular than ever, glowing effects and blur effects seem to be the norm rather than real effects like show in the UE3 video.

There seems to be more glowing type movie effects than ever without thinking of how it affects gameplay. rarely is it done proper and Crysis does do a good job of it.

Just look at how much better HDR looks because I dont know what happened during the developement but it's now a cheap thrown together version with bloom effects. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKDXrAE7Ecg&feature=related. Sorry for what seems like a rant but PS3 development ruined UT3 on the graphical side and it could have been and ran so much better.
