Currently, I have an AMD Dual Core 4200+ at 2.21 GHZ, 2 gig of RAM and a 7800xt.
I run the demo in 800x600 with average texture settings and the performance is acceptable but could be better - in Shangri La, I feel like im averaging about 55FPS overall, but performance is bad by the bridge with the stinger on it.
What I want is to be able to increase my resolution to 1024x768 at still see a decent improvement in framerate.
I'm willing to consider any price card but £350 ($700) is probably too extreme, and at the other end, im a little suspicious of budget cards, so I'm guessing im looking at the Geforce 8800 GT/GTS/GTX cards and the Radeon 2900/ 2900 XT cards.
Unless it is extremely advisable, I'm not looking to upgrade after UT3 comes out because a main point of upgrading is to improve my initial UT3 experience.
Some questions on my mind are
* As the new 8800 GT is cheap, is it missing any important features compared to the 8800 GTS 640mb?
* Whats the performance like on the ATI cards? do they compete with the Nvidia cards at the moment?
* Is my processor a potential bottleneck, which will stop me getting much out of a nice new gfx card?
Thanks for any help :)
