Hi guys and girls!
I got this cool idea for MP_map I'll be working alone on this. This is my time using Unreal Editor I know Radiant and Hammer editors by heart ;).
So basically I'm doing this outdoor map and id like to know how to give the "add light (point)" a bigger size to light my walls...
Can i use the sky dome to light my world?

Also, I would like to ask if there are other kind of lights (like directional ones) rather than the point one (omnidirectional)?

Select the light and press the space bar until you get the red square pully icons. Drag them in or out and your light radius will increase or decrease. You can do this also in the properties of the particular light, but if I were you I would use a skylight or a directional light or even both for an outdoor map.

I've also seen pretty cool results where a VolumeFog is used. It helps add light to the map without the expense of actually calculating a light and lightmaps with that light included. I'm not sure how effective this will be the Unreal 3 Editor, but I used it in some maps we made for UT2004.

Hey, I just started with the UE3 (first time I use any UE) and I need help fixing the light, when I try the map it says "lightning needs to be fixed" or something along those lines :p So, how do I fix it? thanks in advance

Have you rebuilt the map before you try to play it? Try to Rebuild All and see if that fixes your lighting issue. I don't know exactly what the icon looks like (not at my own PC right now) but I know it's near the icon that lets you playtest the level. It's up at the top right somewhere. :D

Hope that helps!

Ok, so if you look at the screenshot that Kronos posted, the rebuild icon is just to the left beside the menu that says "No Propogation."

I wouldnt worry to much about that, those are just warnings.

For example, on the second warning its just telling you that a certain static mesh within your map is accepting lights but the material its using is an unlit material, which means it makes it pretty much pointless for it to accept lights seeing as its already unlit. You can fix the issue if you wish, which you probably should, but it wont cause any difference in visual if you had it accept lights or not, considering its still going to glow like a tree because its set to bunlit.

About the first warning, you can go to Tools > Clean BSP Materials and that should solve it.

And for the second one, you select the actor (you can double click the error, I believe), open the object properties window, click to open the staticMeshActor rollout, click to open the lighting sub-rollout, and un-check bAcceptLights. The map will run fine either way, I just hate seeing the errors! >_<

I have another question:

- Is there any way, different from upgrading the rig, to increase the speed when building lights? Because, I've tried using a skylight and the light build does nothing.

Have you tried running the "Clean BSP Materials" command under the Tools menu?
