Two of my all-time favorite mods (excluding total conversion mods) for UT99. They were beyond anything I ever played in 2k3/2k4... just seems like nothing can match the creativity in a lot of UT99 mods.
Strangelove... specifically the completely customized ROSEANNE'S BUM server (I really hope somoene remembers what I'm talking about). Redeemers turned into jets that would carry you and they made entire maps about this. Capture the flag where you'd have to go through crazy obstacles and twists and turns (hitting a wall made you blow up). SO much fun. Ah that brings back good memories.
Monster Invasion RPG... I think that's what it was called. You'd endure waves of monsters and you'd get experience for killing them, which would give you points that you could use for more health, return on health per damage, faster shooting, etc. The guns would have some sort of suffix, ie: Flak Cannon of Infinity, where it'd never run out of ammo.
There's one other mod that I can't quite remember the name of... Each level was strictly an obstacle course where you'd use UT's movement mechanics to extreme lengths... like dodging at just the right angle onto a sloped inclne to basically jump huge distances. Some of the levels were completely impossible, but it was always fun to see how far you could get. It's extremely satisfying to be able to capture the enemy flag because you learned the entire map so well and knew how to control you character in-game beyond anything normal. NAME THIS MOD, I can't believe I've forgotten.
Anyone know if the developers would ever consider porting over? Or whether any fans would ever take over?
