Hey ppl,
im planning with my team to do a new gametype in GoW for PC like capture the flag.
most of the artwork is already done by so far but later i think we need some game coders and map makers to do the finishing touche :D

its just same like unreal tournament games but if ppl dont know how thats going on.
Here:
Locust & Gears will fight eachother for getting there flags.
so locust get the gears flag score 1 point till they made the 3 points or higher.
if 1 side scores 3 points they won the game if none get more than flag and time is over
1 side has to capture a flag dont know who but if 1 scores that team wins.

Neat, though I wish someone would make the Strategic Point Capture gametype. If you've played Dawn of War, you'd know what I mean.

hey man i'm not that great of a map designer but i can make ctf into the already made maps like gridlock, and a few others that would work well

What else about CTF?
What happens when two teams have the flag at the capture point? Do they both just capture it or do you have to kill the flag carrier?
What if a flag is contested? Does the flag automatically just respawn to its based after it is dropped or is there a 10 second period when the flag is left uncontested to be respawned back?
When a person has a flag is it a weapon? Is it something he holds in his hands? If so what kind of damage would the flag do? Or is it just something on your back and you can use your weapon? If so, are some weapons restricted? It wouldn't be to realistic to see a flag carrier with a hammer of dawn or boomshot.
Movement. Are you slower with your flag or do you move at the same velocity?
Is there a marker to point out where the flag is? If so, does it show all the time or just when the other team does not control it?
Just a couple of items that you might want to consider.

1. if both teams got the flag none can score. if u got the flag and the enemy your team mates need to kill the enemy flag carrier to get your teams flag back. and after u can walk to your flag place and score.
2. the flag will respawn after 10 seconds when its dropped or scored.
3. no flag is no weapon u carrie it on your back of your character so u can kill the others team that are in ur way or trying to get the flag back that you captured.
4. movements are not slower that will kill the gameplay.
5. i dont know if that works but thats job of a mapper i think. because most of the maps are just same struckture if u got flag in that big building the other team will have the flag in that building to on other side of the map.
I rather that you download the demo of unreal tournament 3 and play vCTF.
so it will be look but without vehicles or hoverboards. just content of gears of war

I think you should really rethink point 3. It worked flawlessly in Halo because by not allowing the flag carrier to continue using weapons, it really reinforced teamwork. It was close to impossible to get the flag on your own; you had to have your teammates cover you as you went in.

I'd love that, it would fit perfectly in Gears of war gameplay!

i think you should have to trade one of your main weapons for the flag...
say you have a shotgun and a lancer, like picking up a weapon you would switch the flag with your lancer and could use it as a weapon or use it on your back and have a shotgun or any other weapon and just use the weapon, also i think with the flag on your back you would move slightly slower, but with it in your hands you would move faster.
