So guys… GOW being released soon, (unless it’s changed?) any news on mapping teams or anyone interested in starting one up? If so I’m very interested.

(i've posted this in UT3 also)

(I have replied in the post below for my personal details and preferences to possibly joining/ starting a team. If your interested PM me to keep this thread on the topic of Unreal 3 modding teams/interests and less about me)

[UPDATE]

so guys, just booted up Ued after playing with GoW PC last night (max res/detail runnin 30-60FPS) and i cant wait to get in

havnt seen anyone advertiseing a mapping/level design team so thinking i best step up and get one started.

gonna need a few ppls interest before it gets serious though, so if anyones interested send us a PM with your details/timezone/exp etc and ill look into getting a IRC chat room started up and in the near future (if it kicks off) a forum/site/vent and all that fun stuff so we can get on with makin some content ^^

Brief details about myself

• Professional level designer (single and multiplayer)
• 9 yrs Unreal exp (3 yrs Unreal3)
• Proficient in Maya / Photoshop (and variants.. LW/Max/PS)
• UK time zone (GMT+0)
• Doing this for fun, portfolio and meet other talented developers

Ideally I would like to join a team where the leader knows what he’s doing, has done this before multiple times, and has enough free time on they’re hands to properly manage the team/site/forum/irc/testing sessions.

Or… if there’s enough interest I could step up and give it a shot ^^

One other thing… I would preferably like to join a team with NO artists (nothing against you guys) using all the art Epic has already spent the last 3 years or so making. (If you want a reason to why I’m saying this feel free to PM me and ill forward you my extensive reasons for this. (Mainly to do with time, talent, finding them, team size, and file size) I will not respond to replies to the thread querying this so to avoid going off topic)

So guys if you got a team going already send us a PM if your interested or reply to this thread and advertise your modding ideas, possibilities and interests

Maybe, it depends how well UT3 or Gears would run on my PC.
I've been using editor programs for a couple years, I know the essentials for the most part of UnRealed.

I can't wait to get started with unrealED and Gears on Tuesday.

I have 11 years experience with maya doing broadcast/film work, more information can be found at:

http://www.polyoptics.ca

Like CryAk, I would love to do some gears level work in my spare time outside of the day job, and would love to hear about any teams getting started.

I would be very interested in working on multiplayer maps... or a multiplayer map component of a larger map pack.

--------

I agree with the CryAk that doing original artwork/content is an absolutely huge undertaking and considering the quality of what is already there, unless you have years to spend, you stand the chance of hurting yourself a lot more than helping.

However I think that applied correctly, adding a single unique element to a level, sets it apart from the rest of the maps, so long as the new content is kept to __extreme__ minimums.

I think that is what my contribution would be, a very simple but nicely made unique object.

I'll have to see how it all works, starting Tues.... I cant wait!

I am also interested.

I am currently a student studying Game Art and Design at AIW.
I have made maps for the First UT, and messed around and got to know the UT2k4 but never had time to make a professional level.
I'm looking to join to develop maps to be placed in my portfolio.

One Map I've made in UT Was a gserouios eye candy map that had framerate issues but really showed what I could do was CTF-CastleRocketx* < Not sure as this was two years ago.

Please contact me on msn, or aim :]
Thanks!

I must admit that I only played the first two single player levels of the Xbox360 version, so I'm probably going to want to play around with the retail PC game for awhile to get a feel for how multiplayer plays.

Other than that, I'm extremely interested in working on some really unique multiplayer stuff. Does anyone have good 3D modeling skills for some custom meshes?

I may make a couple maps. I will probably make tutorials and/or video tutorials so others can learn as well.

My is Larry Charles, Jr and I am a soon to be graduating Sr. at the Art Institute of California, Orange County studying Game art and Design. My goal in the next few weeks is learn anything and everything I can about Unreal 3 hoping to produce a pretty nice demo reel. I love designing games and by far the Unreal Engine(s) have been the best tool I have in doing so.

Your profile says that you're 21 years old.

So....you played Unreal and edited maps at the age of 12?

Pretty impressive stuff CrysAk, but yeah, younger kids got the most free time to learn this stuff, my little bro made maps in UT2003 when he was what, probably nine or ten. Nothing terribly impressive but he got the basics down in any case.
Anyways if anyone can use me on a team I'd be happy to help, although my resume ain't all that impressive.

-First year University student inrolled in Computer Science, but thanks to some advanced placement stuff I'm taking some 2nd year courses.
-Understanding of OOP.
-Done some mapmaking in UT2003, have a basic understanding of game design and flow and all that theory stuff.
-Alot of enthusiasm and eager to learn.
