View Full Version : My first map for UT3: DM-Eruption

I am working on a map for UT3. I might just test it out with UT2004 first and then port it over to UT3. My idea of a map is in a volcanic cave, with lava in a pit at base of the map. As time progresses the lava would rise slowly, and you'd have to fight each other simultaneously moving up, avoiding the hot pool. Do you think that would be pretty cool?

I am just working on a sketch of the map.

There is kinda one like that already in UT2004 as a CTF map. But the visuals with the lava etc is pretty cool. But I would like to see a DM map in that sort of settings as you've described. Go for it. Might be cool if you could trigger a pyroplastic flow effect as a trap event to fry players in the wrong spot. ;)

That was possible in UT2k4. I put several booby traps in my campgrounds map. Hopefully it will be easier to implement in UT3 though.

Sounds interesting, reminds me of a map in Rune while your in Hell on single player.

You would have to have the lava go up and then back down though, you dont want to continously keep climbing, that would make the map excessively large.

Another thing ya'll have to do is relocate the spawn points, dont wanna be spawning in lava!

Not very good for CTF map imho, could better fit for DM. But if you targeting to create novel map (no doubt) nothing wrong.
Good luck in creating map.

Now that's the kind of custom map I would like to see in UT3. I say go for it.
