From the press release of Midway's E3 lineup:

Unreal Tournament 3 (PC; Fall) - Unreal Tournament 3 marks the return of the industry's premiere first-person shooter franchise. In the latest installment of the award-winning UnrealŪ franchise, players assume the role of a futuristic warrior engaged in contests of intense warfare against dedicated and skilled opponents, controlled either by human contestants online or by A.I. These brutal contests are fought with the most powerful military weapons and vehicles known to man. In Unreal Tournament 3, players can go face-to-face with devastating close quarters weapons like the flak cannon and rocket launcher, or pick off their enemies from a distance with a high-caliber sniper rifle. Players will also be able to fully access the universe's most capable and advanced set of vehicles in his quest to dominate and overwhelm opponents.

No mention of PS3 or XBox for UT3 on E3. Finally they found out what UT3 is about. :)
I hope that means we will see the real UT3 (not that slowed down/huge hitbox console version) with the real graphical potential and some players that play and aim the PC way.

Sounds like we might finally get a look at the sniper rifle and hopefully there will be some good PC gameplay videos to go along with that. I'm super excited!!

I hope my PC won't fall, or is that an American term for something?

Yeah, jackass. Too bad Epic themselves said the release was for the Ps3 and XBOX 360 consoles as well. Do further research before jumping to conclusions.

Do some reading before jumping to conclusions. I was talking about the Midway booth at E3. Nothing else, Mr. 30-posts-telling-me-something-about-Unreal.

Having problems reading? He said there's no mention of the ps3 and xbox 360 versions for E3, not for the game itself. Jackass.

Let's get it straight. We know that it's being released on consoles. That is clear.

The thread starter was making a point that the Midway booth at E3 may only feature the PC version. Read his post again carefully.

It does have a bit of a console bashing edge to it, Fueg, which is why I think you were called a Jacka$$ ;) I'd rather see the PC version myself, but I know many console players are hurting just as much as we are for more info. Just because they don't mention the console versions doesn't mean the 360 and PS3 booths won't have something to show for UT3 @ E3! We'll find out soon! :D

It has some "The gameplay footage on PS3 we had seen so far was awfully slow and also shouldn't do the PC graffix justice".

I can happily live with being called whatever for THAT... ...not something else.

:)

Gameplay footage IMHO should show gameplay as it is later in the game, not someone trying to find out what the buttons on a controller are for. I know that you just cannot record someone who constantly does 180s while walldodging, but that can be edited.
If I only want to see the graphical detail I can live with screenshots or a flyby, but gameplay footage should advertise the gameplay.
And letting visitors record someone with a shaky cam who is trying to learn how to handle a controller (that's what happened at Midway's Gamer's day) doesn't advertise the gameplay but puts a lot of people off. The latter must be countered by the devs/publisher, IMHO.

I love it (the idea for the concept/artwork). I don't think that the white background works very well with the dark red.

So what you want is someone who is skilled at the game to demonstrate it. Fair enough. But what does that have to do with consoles? I think it would be just as interesting to see a skilled Xbox360 UT3 player as it would be a skilled PC one. Of course, they have said that they are still working on perfecting the controls.

This brings us to the problem that there are no skilled Xbox360 UT players. You know, because there is no UT game for the Xbox.

Actually, I was referring to internal testers within Epic games and other people that have had experience with Unreal Tournament 3 on the Xbox 360, as Mark Rein claims there is someone who can beat everyone on the PC version with an Xbox controller. I thought that would have been obvious.

epic has a major flaw in their game design, they do all of their beta testing "inhouse". that means it brings nothing new to the table or outside opinions. big mistake imho. i beta test for quake wars and its the massive contribution from people that play all sorts of games and come from all walks of life that contribute to improving the game with a plethora of ideas from a wide variety of players. only people on epics payroll beta test UT, that's like comparing Microsoft OS to linux and we all know who fairs better in that comparison. when i heard that from Flak, i realized why 2k3 was such a flop instantly.

an open beta would be a bad idea. But yes, it would definately be nice to see a bigger range of people testing the game.

..... UT03 suffered because no one liked the drastic changes to Unreal tournament. Not because it had in house beta testing. In house beta testing is done to make sure things are more secure and it also ensures quality control over the game. Besides... When they release the demo they will get lots and lots of feedback about it.

Also. It's a bad idea to beta test a game that doesn't even have all of its components finished yet and many things may still be in the form of concept art and ideas and dreams. You also can't really compare Id soft with Epic.

On a final note. In house beta testing never stopped Unreal, Unreal Tournament and Gears of War from being top of the line in games.

From the new OXM:

And while the game is in simultaneous development for both PC and 360, it's the Xbox [360] that dictates the detail. "Our visual bar is based on Xbox 360," reveals Polge. "How beautiful can we make it and still have it run solid 30 frames per second? Then, after that, we go and look at PC. It's very good for keeping us focused on what we need to do, what's reasonable spec. The Xbox 360 is powerful enough that we're not having to change the game visually. In fact, on PC, we're worried about how we scale back to lower-end PCs."

WOOT! PC VERSION IS GOING TO ROCK!

you think that a closed beta brings nothing to the table? wow you are naive on how epic works. they read these forums. they incorporate ideas from the community. they just dont publicize every action they take. plus the demo is done for a reason.

They should scale it up. Like Lost Planet for example.
The PC version is NOT gonna rock if we are stuck with 360 visuals.

My concern is that DX10 might have features not available for the X360, and if that's the case, we may not see anything out of DX10 that's more technically-advanced than what we'd see out of the X360. I hope the game has the potential to use special effects and features that are superior to what the X360 can use.

Don't forget about the fact that a PC has much more memory and video memory. Textures can have a higher resolution there.
