epic team, will thier be more host options in ut3 than in gears?
do't get me wrong I LOVE GEARS!!!but the mp lobby options while sitting in the lobby kinda are well how do i say this, below average.I love the looks of ut3 ,never played any of the UT games but this looks awesome, especialy if you can have more than 8 players and it's on the xbox360.can't wait for the game, just looking for some info so i can get all my friends interrested in it..they love gears alomost as much as i do,so when i told them that ut3 is made by EPIC they were a little curious,I think we'll have a blast with one!!!!!

please feel free to add any coments THANKS!! P.S was that a woman fighting in the screen shots i saw,my wife is going to love that one,now she can say u got beat by a girl lol!!

UT has always had one of the best server browsing and host options, I'd assume UT3 will follow the same ways and add even more just as they have for every sequel down to the original. Hopefully the console version wont be drawn down in options on hosting a server just because its a console.

go to amazon.com and buy UT2004 for $14. instal game. look at server browser and then try to setup your own listen server. host options in the UT franchise have always been good. there has always been lots of different things you can configure. plus if you know how to edit an INI file properly you can configure things even better than though the GUI.

mind you this is all for the PC. host options for the 360 remain to be seen since there is no confirmation on whether or not the game will use dedicated servers or will be listen servers like GoW currently is.

One problem I had with server browsing is the inability to wait in line for a game. Like with most source games you can right click and select something to automatically let you in the game when there's a spot. I think UT should do something like this.

The server browser in UT2004 was adequate. Nothing special though and lots of areas for improvement. Better filtering options are needed. The ability to ignore bots in server counts. Some form of clan support. I know some people want a big lobby where everyone can talk. Not me (IRC rulez), but some people.

As for waiting in line, I don't really see the need. As it stands, server admins can set up spectator spots so you can wait for an opening while watching the game. If there are none, then you weren't meant to play there.

Console versions will probably be more limited that PC versions unless they have some way of hosting dedicated servers. Without those, hardware and connection requirements would hinder games over a given size (I'd guess that 8 players would be the max, but that's just a guess based on typical high speed upload rates)

Finally, yes, there will probably be many female character models/voice packs. There have been in every one of the UT series games, and I doubt that will change.

wait until you see mutators :P (I can see them putting at least a couple on the console version)

(BTW, some marketing employee at epic must be dancing from this post)

Well, in UT2004 and other UT games, when you created a server, it was run on your computer, so you could control everything. Since, you were relating to Gears, I assume you are asking about the 360 server hosting. In order to be on Xbox Live, servers that you create have to be hosted on the Xbox Live servers, not on your console, and I hate to think of what might be controlled in terms of server settings because of the Xbox achievements and ladder systems... :(

The host, server, etc. options are limited by Xbox Live, not by Epic or other games.

The hosting options for Shadowrun on PC are also "neutered" because Live is a controlled environment, therefore options are limited, because as Tim Sweeney noted in his interview with NVnews, keeping a secure gaming network on consoles is important (that's certainly not verbatim, mind you ;) ).
