View Full Version : RE: Help removing new roadie run patch

If anyone can help we'd greatly appreciate it.

We have six 360 consoles hooked up via system-link throughout our house and for the past six months we've played hundreds, if not thousands of matches within our family. We just payed $60 to have the new Hidden Fronts map pack installed on each console. The maps are very nice... but, ironically hidden in the Hidden Fronts pack was the roadie run patch released with the Annex game mode a few weeks back.

The day Annex was released there were so many complaints about the new roadie run that we didn't bother to download it. We don't play matches online (seeing that we live in the country and we only have satellite access to the Internet). Instead, our entire family plays a cycle or more together, every day, here at home.

The problem is this: NOBODY in our family likes the new roadie run. It has really made the game very UN-enjoyable for all of us. We've performed all the tips that people have posted... and they do work. But, the game doesn't feel as intuitive and tightly woven together as it did before we had the patch (especially in the heat of a shotgun battle or when trying to flee while wounded). We all feel that we are paying too much attention to the things around us that we might be forced to stick to (which takes away from our focus on the opposing team).

So with all this said, is it possible to delete the patch? Will deleting the Hidden Fronts download remove it? $60 is a lot to lose, but we all enjoyed the game so much more before receiving the download that we will be more than happy to get rid of the four new maps if that means getting our OLD roadie run back.

We just don't want to delete the new maps if the NEW roadie run is still going to be there even after they are gone.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We also want to give our thanks in advance to anyone who would be kind enough to give us a solution to our problem.

Sincerely,

FamilyofGears

Dont you have to download the patch once it comes out to even be able to play the game again? Or am I just crazy?

Mr. thisisepic,

Not sure what you mean by "download the patch... to even be able to play the game again?". We played the game before the patch and can continue to play the game now with the new patch. Thanks for your reply, although it did us no good.

So, to answer your question: maybe you are.

You could have not downloaded the new roadie patch and just go to market place and download the maps. The patch is different from the map pack.

No, we couldn't have "just downloaded the maps". The patch came WITH the maps. We had no choice.

It's got to be on your harddrive somewhere. Have you tried looking through all your game files on there?

I don't think that is true. You could have denied updating the game and browse to market place and download the maps. If you don't believe me copy a profile to an xbox 360 memory card (64MB/512MB) and remove the harddisk and try playing from the memory card. Xboxlive will prompt you to update and you can deny it and still browse to marketplace.

BTQ,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, we have to the best of our ability. The most we can come up with is "Map Pack 1" and "Map Pack 2" as titled downloads for Gears of War. Is there another way to find it? Your suggestion will be appreciated.

Sincerely,

FamilyofGears

I'm saying that to play the game online you have to have the patch, you can deny it but its not gonna let you go any further until it is downloaded. I dont see how a patch was incorporated with the DLC that would give you the new roadie run.

RHG,

Thanks for your post. We're not sure what you mean by "remove the harddisk and try playing from the memory card". Any help you can give us is greatly appreciated. We just aren't sure how to play with the new maps without the harddisk in place. In order to receive the new maps we had to accept them first. Did we make a mistake somewhere? If so, do you know how to reverse it?

Sincerely,

FamilyofGears

thisisepic,

Sorry, we didn't understand your original post. We don't have a Gold membership, so we can't play online. All we did was download the new maps and the new roadie run came with it. All we want now is information on how to remove it. Thanks for your reply and we apologize for our misunderstanding.

get over it. wasting sixty bucks just to get the maps. Then, honestly considering deleting them and throwing sixty bucks out the window is totally ridiculous. you will learn how to use the roadie run, just give it time. Maybe throwing money away isn't a problem for you guys. I mean, 6 consoles for one family, what do you guys do for a living or did you steal all of them?

cokaine,

No, we don't steal. And, just because we want to get rid of something that our hard earned money has bought us doesn't mean we deserve the types of comments like you've posted.

You guys can let this thread just fade away now. All we wanted was some help... not this.

Sincerely,

Im not sure if this would work but if you clear you system cache it will delete all updates you have downloaded for your games. I did this the other day and when I went on gears I had to download the update again.

you would have to wipe your hard drive i would imagine and then put gears back in but dont update the game when it asks just deny access to the updates

There is a way to reset the cache which also wipes out ALL software updates.

http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/11131/Xbox-360-Cache-Clear-Code-Revealed/

They will be releasing a patch in the future to update the roadie run as there have been quite a few compaints. You might just want to wait on that, as I doubt there's a way of only updating the maps and not getting the roadie run update if that's what happened when you downloaded the new maps the first time.

good luck,

If the update is embedded in the maps, you probably cannot reverse the update unless you delete the maps. There is a key (well, button...) combination you can enter in the dashboard that removes software patches: (not gamesaves, DLC etc). This MIGHT work, it might not. If it doesn't, you'll have to delete the maps and maybe even do this as well.

To do this, first open the "System" blade in the Xbox 360 dashboard, then go to memory, and press Y on the hard drive to open the "Device Options" menu. Then press the following sequence of buttons: X, X, LB, RB, X, X. You will be asked if you want to perform maintenance on your hard drive and delete all patches. Choose yes. To later reinstall patches, just get on Xbox Live again. However, if you had downloaded additional content that relied on patches, like Mehrunes Razor for Oblivion (and the new maps for Gears it seems), it will be reset as if you'd not done the quest, causing you to lose any equipment you may have obtained during the quest.

So do at your own risk, backing up all your gamesaves should remove almost any risk that is there for this method. Note this deletes all patches for all your games. (and maybe dashboard updates too - just connect to Live to check about that).

Go to the system blade and then select memory.

Press Y on the HD symbol and then press X,X,Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X,X. Once you do this a messsage will appear saying: Do you want to perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices? Then hit yes. I will only delete game updates and stuff. No demo, profiles, videos, maps.

Do you have the Annex gametype now from downloading the 4 new maps? Or is it just the roadie run problem?
